So Now I Can't Stop Buying Domains- Help!

I seem to be a little confused lately. I keep playing on Jaaxy and some word combinations come to me from the dark hidden places I try to keep quiet.

Some of them seem to be so good that i buy the dot com if available and sometimes the .org, or the .net. At the time they just seem like "Wow I could make a cool website with that one." or "that name could make some money" or the dreaded "I could sell that name."

Then I realized I may need an intervention. Who do I call for that one? What is it about this business that makes all this searching for opportunity so facinating to me suddenly?

It's the real successes that I see everyday here. It has raised my 'hope' scope high again. I'm not sure what else it could be. I am not usually the happy nut case you see before you now. Nope. It may be too late for me, but save your selves if you can.

All the best,

Haha, I believe I need a domain intervention as well. I get on a roll sometimes stocking up my domain portfolio.

One thing will always remain the case though, they don't make more domains (in particular .com) and when you buy these assets, they can absolutely go up in value.

There are still LOTS of amazing domains out there, and it is never a bad idea to stock up on really great ones as you come across them.

It is fascinating to me. I have no real idea what I'm doing yet. Sometimes it's just the name that stands out and I want to buy it even if Jaaxy isn't impressed.
Other times it's because of the traffic the word or phrase draws. I need to stop buying and read more.
Thanks, Kyle for encouraging my addiction.....lol

Yeah, at some point you really want to focus on one domain, build out one website, and focus on establishing ONE business. This focus will lead to the actual creation of your business. :)

You can always sell them later. Some names can go for a lot of money - Coffee Connection asking price is $56,000!
Maybe domain names if your true niche.

That is amazing. Just for coffee. hmm

yup. it's quite a business

Thanks, I'll see if I can learn more.

Ha! Ha! I think a lot of us see the world as one big dot com opportunity. I also own several. Some seemed like great ideas at the time and now I am left wondering what I was thinking. Others I am still impressed with. Thanks for sharing!

I'd rather be on the nutcase side! Jump off that cliff with both feet, WITHOUT LOOKING!

And I thought it was only one.......

Hi there,

Wishing you all the success here at WA. My advice though if you are not yet making money, stop buying domains. Work on one website at a time.

Cheers,

Great Post Paul. Stop for intervention on the way to the bank. LOL
Have a great weekend,
Wendi

You're too funny, Paul! Keep buying! Lol

You may be a natural-born domainer - a person who buys and sells domain names. There are many successful folks who do it, but the learning curve can be expensive.

So if you own a bunch of domain names, take the ones you think could be good to sell one day, and do a basic build-out - home page, couple of posts, terms & conditions, privacy policy, contact us page. Then just let it age. See what it does for traffic. If it starts to attract some, add a few more articles, and in a while you'll be able to sell it for a profit. Or not.

Welcome to the world of domaining.

Great advice, Jeannine! I own quite a few myself!
