I have been asked this week to look a few sites to give my opinion and it seems that many sites have the same problem so I thought I would say a few words

On many sites, I have seen it appears that the owner is trying to pack as much information they can onto the front page, and I am sorry but this leads to confusion with the viewer as they are not sure where to look first.

There has been much research done with heat maps and where a person looks when he of she enters your site.

What looks great to you is not always as the viewer sees - what your colour preference is not the same as the viewer likes etc

If you keep your site as simple as possible it will work better for you as you first must lead the viewer inside and then direct the person to where you want them to go.

Remember the KISS method - well it really does work

Standard setting here in wordpress is that the front page shows the latest posts. Should I make it static, and make a few sections that leads other main-parts on the website ? (like a menu, but then spread out over the page with each item a picture and a bit text ). ?

There has been quite a few discussions on this and for me I prefer a static page with the menus leading off as it is more user friendly
See my site and see what you think ok
