Not Enough Time

Does anyone ever feel this? You want to do something but when you think it all out in your head, you go through how much time it will take to do each part of your plan and it gets so overwhelming that you decide not to even start it?

As we get older, time seems to be speeding up... or there seems to be not enough time to get everything done. But its really our perspective, time is time and we just need it be able to manage it better,

Time management is like filling a jar, you can put rocks (your priorities) in first and say that it is full, but you can still add the marbles (family, job) in, and you can still add the sand (extras like WA), and guess what you are still able to add the water (fun, vacations) too. It all fits you just have to manage what you fill your jar with first and the quantities.

We get our work tasks done but not enough time for our personal things. Or we take time off for personal stuff and our work suffers. The challenge is to balance both so that neither suffers.

If we have families, time to play with and take care of our families is very important but so is keeping our jobs because it pays the bills. That is why WA is so wonderful. It can be challenging in the beginning, juggling another item on your agenda, but you are building something for your future, so you are not so dependent on that job. You want to feel like you have options. And you don't want to miss out on those precious moments with your family.

Sometimes we take on too much, for the sake of keeping busy. It's like a buzz word now to be busy. Keeping busy does not bring us happiness, rather it can drain us of energy that we would otherwise use with things that are important to us.

You cannot control everything in your life, but you can control your time. Use your time wisely on what matters.

You're right that when people face a task so big, they risk not doing it all because they get "tired" just thinking about it.

When faced with such, I break this "huge" task down to small steps in a chronological to-do list. And as you complete the small steps, cross it out as this will give you a feeling of accomplishment. Keep chipping away, and before you know it, you're done!

That is great advice Grendall...small steps always work best for most people. I love crossing things off my list, thanks for sharing.

Great post and sums up perfectly my current position. I've just gone part time at work due the money I have been able to make online and it feels great! I've been working for just over a year at making money on the side and it is finally paying off and giving me more time.

That is wonderful to hear Pug2. Keep up the good work that as you say is obviously paying off.

That must be a wonderful feeling of success! Now you get to devote more time to your business which you most likely enjoy much more than the job!
Thaat's great!!

I just do not know how a person has time to even work these days as all my time has gone before it is time to sleep again and now only 6 hours sleep a day !!!!

I know what you mean Paul. We are like mice on a treadmill sometimes. Trying to get it all done in a short period of time. FIt in all the important bits before our time runs out at the end of the day.

Yes you can not control every thing in life but you can spent your time
wisely so you will never have a chance to regret.

Yes Trendygirl, best not waste a minute of time that you cannot get back or regret.

Hi Pat, Great post as usual:) No matter how busy we are, we have to take time to reflect and dream and plan because without this compass, we are spinning our wheels but really getting nowhere. Dave.

Its true, so much has to go into our jar for us to be productive people. We need to find the time to fit it all in!

Hi pat - time the older U get the quicker the time seems to pass and I
Still have not figured out why this is - Paul

Its all an illusion, as we get older we realize how much we want to get done before we leave this life and the sense of urgency is now there perhaps?

Great Nightingale quote. I'm reminded of another quote: "It's always now." And now is the best time to achieve.

Now is all we have, use it wisely and don't let it slip away waiting for tomorrow.

Love that Earl Nightingale quote! So true, and also what you're saying, Pat! As we look at some point or other at our lives in retrospect, we don't want to see a bunch of negatively or neutrally spent moments extending to days, weeks, months and even years - instead of creating something positive, if not every day then at least as often as we can. John Lennon said it so well: 'Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans'.

Love the Lennon quote Tarja. Its so true!

For true, that's why I left my 9-5 job long time ago realizing that I spend most of my time building somebody's business even my family was suffering with me not there and now I'm proud to say I spend my time building our legacy and still enjoy time with my family! Great post Pat, love it

Nompumelelo, would love to be there one day, need to work to get there. Thanks for shining your light for me to follow.

This is so true. It seems that now if you are not "keeping busy" your are wasting time. But time for reflection is an activity but not a visual one and can often only be done during available time. Great Blog.

It is so true, if you don't say you are busy, you don't have enough going on in your life.
