I find many websites leave the videos they add on their posts to end with choices to watch others that may cause the visitor to leave the website.

There is an option when you go to embed a YouTube video onto your post where you uncheck this and it's Show suggested videos when the video finishes.

Once you uncheck the box it automatically sets it back to the beginning. When I first started adding videos to my website, I had my first two end with the option to watch others. Once I found out you can stop this, I had to remove the videos, and start over.

I wrote a post about it back in July/17 and will leave the link here:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/patsyc/blog/setting-a-video-...

YouTube made a couple of changes since on how to do this but when go to make the adjustment you will see it's easy to find.

Eric has a great tutorial on how to embed a YouTube video to your website post, it's fast and easier than you think. He even shows how to center it on your post among other things. It's only 4 minutes long :D

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-embed-youtub...

I added a video to my recent post and it didn't have the option to uncheck a box, so I checked with 'preview' in edit. I fast forwarded it and it already had the auto-start which was nice.

Using relevant videos is great for your bounce rate, engagement and adds value to your post!

I like You Tube videos, especially informative ones. I like to have control of them, though.

Thanks for the post.
Mojalefa.

Hi Wesley, I agree.

Mine are DIY projects for my niche and I love the ideas as well!
Most niches can add them, there is always something available to use.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing :D

Hi Patsy,
For me personally, I don't like videos that go off without my approving it. Just me personally but I find the auto-start videos hugely annoying.

As always, a great post though.

Hi Steve,
Are you referring to videos you create yourself that you want your approval?

Why do you find the auto-start videos annoying? They are ready to go for the next visitor.

Hi there friend!!!!
I remember when I first learned how to add a video to my post. Back then it seemed complicated at first, but looking back it was oh so easy, right! LOL!
There is also a way to start and stop videos where you want. However when I first mentioned this many months ago there was those who thought it wouldn't be appropriate to the person who gets credit for the video you might be using, so I never changed mine. It would be a way to lose the advertising if it's at the start or end of a video.
Anyway, just FYI.
Thanks for the great info again, Patsy! :0)

Hi Mark! you are welcome.

If the video is lets say...an hour long but you only need part of it, then it's great. We don't want to bore the visitor losing them with information that isn't relevant to the niche.

I forgot about that, thanks for the reminder :)

What I don't like is the ads being inserted on the video, I want my video only but I cannot go back and fix it on YouTube.

Hi Jimmy,

Go back to YouTube and find your video, click on 'share' then embed. 'uncheck' the box that says 'show suggested videos when the video finishes'.

Copy the code.

Delete the one you have now because the ads are there, you need to REPLACE it with the newly edited code.
Then add the new one.

You can't go to YouTube to edit the one already on your post. The new code will have the 'unchecked' box.

I use them in my posts as well. I don't think I would add them any place else either :)
