Nice post and I completely agree. User experience is very important!
One thing I don't do however for SEO is meta title and meta description. From my understanding, they are auto-filled anyways with your blog title and the first 150-250 character count (whatever it is) of your blog post. So I just make sure my keyword is in my blog title and at least the first 2 sentences of my article.
