I guess it depends on where you are seeing this information. It may be automated messages from members that haven't been updated, but I agree, the "making money on a free membership" thing isn't really viable any more (it used to be), and I think Kyle has updated some of WA's own marketing language to reflect that.
No question about it. To prosper in WA using a free membership is very difficult as a beginner. I upgraded within the first week I was here and do not regret it.
WA works as hard as we do toward our success. But if it is free - then you also get what you pay for.

After doing boot camp and seeing how things were laid out in the classes, I realized I needed all the training I could get.
Site Rubix allowed me to see that I could build a website. I was pretty excited about that. It gave me the incentive. I do know what you mean, though.
I also realized it was not going to be free. About that time in Kyles's classes, he mentioned buying domains. He also said that by owning your domain, you could sell it if you wished to. That led me in the right direction, I think.
So I guess I am trying to say that if you follow the classes and look ahead, it is self-explanatory to me.
I have learned a lot since I have been here. I also have been a premium plus member since about my first month, so I agree that becoming a premium member is a good idea early on.
Being part of the community is very educational as well. I learn a lot just by reading posts from you pros.
Now I have to go back and fix my mistakes because, in some cases, I didn't listen close enough. LOL.

But the key is gently. We are trying to avoid discouraging them right at the start.

However, there’s a number of who joined the “FREE STARTER” on their own, present themselves in the community with their first question as “ How do I make money here?”
I believe most are being transparent in explaining that Wealthy Affiliate is a learning platform. If it is being perceived differently, that should not be placed on the WA members . This is why “LIVE CHAT” was in existence. Where most of you have been a great help!!!

I completely agree with your assessment here. I would go so far as to say that newbies should be informed from the referring website.
They should be made to understand that the "Free" membership is simply a "test drive" to whet their whistle.
I suppose everyone has their own ideas about the best practices to lure people here. But then, once here, there is an entire community who could clue them in.
I don't ever think about the avenue people might have taken to get here. I do try to be helpful though. I have been chided for trying to help when I really didn't know what I was doing.
Although that was hurtful, it was honest. I've been studying this stuff for a while now and I still don't really know what I'm doing.
My memory and difficulty in absorbing knowledge are my greatest adversaries. But I keep plugging along.

Last week I know myself and Lord Jeff of Brown had problems with publishing blog posts ON
I have not had any issues with my Blog post at all. Kyle explained what is happening. We will have to wait. Don't even use the backspace or delete. I did not do that.
But I did notice problems with the comment section in typing this to you. I would type then the page will refresh itself and my comments disappears. My welcoming new member post would disappear. I have to type in another one and click post to make sure its there. That only happens on mobile.
There were some really frustrating issues last week, I almost lost my marbles trying to put a post together with all the backspace and deletion issues. That issue was actually triggered by an unrelated release.
While we have fixed these more pertinent issues, our editor is going to get further improvements as there are some things that are very much finicky, in particular around images and the headline insertion...and in some cases copying content from other editors.
So more updates coming in that respect, and we have a dedicated team reviewing just the editor right now. Thanks for your patience everyone, and we will continue improving the editor here as time goes on. ;)

I gritted my teeth in the testing phase to see if the repairs had been done. The first time it disappeared, and then I used CtrlZ and brought the whole thing back, PP.
Since then though, there have been no issues. You can safely launch, I believe!

I gave up blogging on my WA blog roll yesterday as the title kept being deleted when hitting the Space bar..
Some other minor issues happened too, mostly paragraphs disappearing.
The Site Content Editor worked fairly well, but I discovered today that the picture added to the first paragraph in the blog posts I published to my website didn´t end up as a picture in the post, it ended up with an H2 tag, as an H2 Headline.
I haven´t seen anything written if the issue has been solved yet.

All of Partha's potions pearls are saved into a binder, laminated (not really), and have pride of place in my library of what to do, and what not to do online (really this is true).
Personally, I would prefer to get the full PP blast in one go. Not that anyone cares anymore, but there it is.

My skyscraper article on my mmo site dropped from page 1 position 4 to page 3 position 6 and has now moved up to page 3 position 2, so moving in the right direction.
What a lot of people fail to realize about Google algorithm updates is that it's a zero sum game. If your article has dropped in rank for a particular keyword, someone else's has risen. And vice-versa.

I think there are still quite a few bugs in the new layout, and some of the decisions were not the best. Personally, not being able to see if someone is in the Top 50, Top 100 or Top 200 without going to their profile is making me crazy. I don't need to participate in WA as much because no one will know I'm in the Top 100 anymore.
Okay, at the moment, I can ONLY see Cassi's reply...
However, I caught sight of Femi's and Phil's replies, but they have now disappeared.
Plus (at the time of writing this) I can clearly see that it states that there have been 9 replies.
An yet, once more, the only one I can see and read is Cassi's.
However, I did catch that Femi and Phil mentioned they are having the same issues, so clearly it's a bug.
Perhaps, reply to THIS comment here, and I may see who replies then.

Oh wow, good to know! Could other plugins than WP plugins be conflicting with site speed here as well, you think? I have pretty good speed on desktop, but mobile stays rather low. Also, sometimes my pictures disappear on mobile (in the header and top image of blog posts). Then they are back, and the other day they are gone again, I can't figure out why that happens. Thanks for the update!

Thanks for outlining the steps you did above. I am also using WP rocket and Site Speed. I have not seen any issues. But based on your experience. I may do a split test to see what happens.
Unfortunately, I have not seen any issues with YouTube videos on mobile. Though I did notice recently that when I clicked some older posts with Videos, they played picture in picture. Sometimes they worked and sometimes not.

My videos were showing on mobile previously, I only noticed the issue today.
But, when checking online, much like you've said, this seems to be a very common problem.
Bit difficult when most of my traffic is mobile and all my posts have 2-4 videos.
I initially add through SiteContent, which publishes to Classic Editor, which I then convert to Block Editor (I know, I'm going all round the houses, LOL).
I haven't tried with an html block.
Something to consider.
I've just got my tech guy having a look for me at the moment.
Hopefully, he can provide a solution.

Basically, whenever he does any work on the site, he asks me to turn SiteSpeed OFF, possible conflict,
However, he's said all the problems I've had of late (comments not going through, just a blank white screen, "redundant dependencies showing on ALL IN ONE SEO, which SiteSupport simply disabled as a solution) - I think yoiu were there the other day when I was getting a bit a***y with Kyle in Love Chat about SiteSupport.
My tech guy says that it the caching from sitespeed that is causing all the problems.
Because, he's added a few tweaks to WP Rocket and done some coding work on the site.
He just a Google Speed Test while WA SiteSpeed was turned OFF.
100% results on everything.
SO, he's adviced me to keep SiteSpeed turned OFF permanentely, as this is causing conflicts.
I'll leave it off for a week and see what happens.

yeah wprocket and our wonderful caching solution here are not really compatible....so off is good....
wprocket is pretty good ...am learning about w3 total cache ...not quite as good but freer....
and finding the cache here is a bit of a pita....
glad he found the solution and wasn't a major problem....

However, he's said all the problems I've had of late (comments not going through, just a blank white screen, "redundant dependencies showing on ALL IN ONE SEO, which SiteSupport simply disabled as a solution) - I think yoiu were there the other day when I was getting a bit a***y with Kyle in Love Chat about SiteSupport.
My tech guy says that it the caching from sitespeed that is causing all the problems.
Because, he's added a few tweaks to WP Rocket and done some coding work on the site.
He just a Google Speed Test while WA SiteSpeed was turned OFF.
100% results on everything.
SO, he's adviced me to keep SiteSpeed turned OFF permanentely, as this is causing conflicts.
I'll leave it off for a week and see what happens.

yeah wprocket and our wonderful caching solution here are not really compatible....so off is good....
wprocket is pretty good ...am learning about w3 total cache ...not quite as good but freer....
and finding the cache here is a bit of a pita....
glad he found the solution and wasn't a major problem....

I think it's just the caching we offer here at WA seems to conflict with WP Rocket.
It's weird because I had all my coding work and installed WP Rocket 7 months ago, not a single problem.
Then suddenly in the last 3 weeks everything's gone haywire.

I completely agree with your assessment here. I would go so far as to say that newbies should be informed from the referring website.
They should be made to understand that the "Free" membership is simply a "test drive" to whet their whistle.
I suppose everyone has their own ideas about the best practices to lure people here. But then, once here, there is an entire community who could clue them in.
I don't ever think about the avenue people might have taken to get here. I do try to be helpful though. I have been chided for trying to help when I really didn't know what I was doing.
Although that was hurtful, it was honest. I've been studying this stuff for a while now and I still don't really know what I'm doing.
My memory and difficulty in absorbing knowledge are my greatest adversaries. But I keep plugging along.
