So, after an 8-year break from Affiliate Marketing, I came to Wealthy Affiliate as a newbie (in my mind). I followed the training step-by-step and today yields my first “monetary” success (I view a lot of other achievements I’ve made as success anyway).

I know you probably want to know EXACTLY how I made the $34, but if you don’t mind I’d rather wait until traffic and income is a little more significant, and then I’ll happily share EVERYTHING with you.

For now, please be aware that my website is merely 91 days old today, I have 78 published articles, I am very active on Pinterest, and I interact with (successful) people in my niche almost daily.

For now, and for what it’s worth, here are a few pearls of wisdom from a very unwise person.

My 34 Tips

1. Read every single day. It doesn’t have to be niche-related, or WA-related. Even just reading 20 minutes a day equates to over 100 hours a year. Believe it or not, reading makes you more knowledgeable and a better writer.

2. Answer questions for article ideas. I love visiting Quora and Reddit. I’ll find a question asked within my niche and then just answer it. You don’t even have to reply on the site itself. Just open up your writing document of choice (or even use a pen and paper - remember them?) and answer the question. It will provide you with both material and inspiration.

3. Get some fresh air during the day, everyday. We’re typically stuck behind a computer screen for hours on end. There is something very therapeutic about getting some natural light and fresh air on a regular basis.

4. Use YouTube for research. Get a pen and paper (Old school method again), find a video within your niche, watch it, and write 5 learning points. Well done, you now have the outline for your next article.

5. Use Pinterest in exactly the same manner. Pen, paper, pick 5 pins in your niche, write 1 learning point from each. Done.

6. Make another person smile every single day. Even if you’re just giving them a compliment. Just seeing someone else smile, and knowing that it’s because of you, will lift your mood no end.

7. Shut that negative voice down in your head As soon as you start doubting your ability, say to yourself, “Partha, this is just a negative thought, it can’t do me any harm, and I won’t let it.” (obviously, insert your own name). Once you realise it’s “Just A Thought”, it can no longer have a hold over you.

8) Tell someone you love them every single day. Your partner or spouse, your children, your parents, your siblings, your friends, your pet, or worst case scenario, if you have no-one, just contact me and tell me You Love Me. People appreciate a genuine, heartfelt, declaration of love, and it’ll make you feel warm and fuzzy inside.

9) Do something to build your business every single day. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, you don’t have to work flat-out for 12 hours. Even if you only write 200 words towards an article, watch a WA training video, do 20 minutes of keyword research, you have still moved your business further forward than it was yesterday.

10) Don’t compare yourself to others, whether this is in your personal or business endeavours. No matter how together or successful someone appears, we ALL face internal struggles on a regular basis.

11) Laugh every single day. Watch a funny video, speak to the funniest person you know, read a funny article, meme, or book. Better still, write something funny yourself. Laughing is infectious, and this is also true from a personal perspective.

12) Open a new gmail account. Subscribe to 3 online marketers who inspire you, who you strive to be like, whose content you love, and regularly read what they have to say.

13) Don’t check your stats everyday. It can be wonderfully gratifying to see traffic and sales, but it can also be soul-destroying to see nothing. Plus, you could spend hours a day checking stats without actually achieving anything productive.

14) Don’t try and do everything. Pick your two favourite (3 maximum) methods of growing your business and concentrate on them for a while. You can add other stuff later. My favourites are writing content and Pinterest, so at least 20 days out of a month I am doing these things.

15) Buy domain names. If you have a completely off-the-wall idea for a site, check namemesh for available domain names, and then buy it. You don’t have to work on that site anytime soon, but it’s good to know that it’s there when you need it. I currently own a website that only has 3 articles on it, but the domain name is 14 years old now (it was valued at $2,600 last time I checked).

16) Watch TED Talks. Even if it isn’t directly related to you or your business, you may learn something interesting.

17) Type ANY niche-related question into Google. Then scroll down and click on the “People Also Ask” questions, which will reveal more and more questions each time you click on one. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and check the “Searches Related To (Your Question)” section. There you go, you’ve just found content ideas for your next 5-10 articles.

18) Take regular breaks away from your computer. Get up, walk around, leave the room, go in the garden, get some fresh air. Just get away from that screen at least once every 45 minutes or so and you’ll find your productivity will skyrocket.

19) Do some form of training every week. You are never the finished article, and there is always something to learn. We have access to literally thousands upon thousands on training modules and videos here at WA. Complete at least one a week.

20) If you’re suffering from writer’s block, set a timer for 7 minutes and then just write. Write about anything that comes to mind. If nothing comes to mind, write over and over again, “I can’t think of anything to write”, until something eventually pops into your head. Even if you write “I can’t think of anything to write” for 7 minutes in total, trust me, something amazing will happen.

21) Don't be afraid to ask questions. We have an unbelievable platform here where people are willing to help in any way they can, typically with a lot of knowledge to share as well. There is no such thing as a stupid question.

22) Learn to relax. Your productivity tends to wane on occasion. Don’t sweat it. Just do something you find relaxing, forget your worries, and life has a funny way of making everything alright again.

23) Learn to deal with negative people. It’s often easier said than done to actually drop a negative person from your life. What if that negative person is a family member, someone you live with? You can simply listen, smile and move on, but don’t allow someone else’s negativity to affect you (see tip number 7).

24) Set realistic goals. It’s all well-and-good setting yourself a goal of earning $10,000 a month within 6 months, but if you’re completely new to this business, and you’re starting from scratch, it’s highly unlikely. I’m not saying it’s impossible, just not very likely.

25) Communicate regularly with successful people in your niche. Read and comment on their blogs, send them an email saying that you absolutely loved a couple of articles they wrote, and that you’ll be linking to them from your site, comment on their YouTube videos, retweet, like, forward, link to, pin, shout out, to them. Have no ulterior motive for doing this, just do it.

26) Use a Keyword from many different perspectives to create more articles and internally link these together if you want to. You could even create a series of articles on your website, e.g. Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, etc..

e.g. Keyword = Lose Belly Fat

27) Have a morning routine, something that sets you up for the day, typically based around personal development. It can last for 10 minutes or 3 hours, your choice. Every morning I meditate, write in a journal, read, and exercise. I’m an early riser, but that’s the first 90 minutes of my day sorted, and then I’m ready to rock-n-roll.

28) Help someone in need on a regular basis. Put your spare change in the charity workers’ tin, buy the homeless guy a cup of coffee and a sandwich, pack up 10 items of clothing you haven’t worn in 18 months and take them to the charity shop. Even though you’re doing something nice for someone else, it’ll make you feel great.

29) Work in a tidy environment. Cluttered room and cluttered desk equals a cluttered mind. Simples.

30) Invest at least 30% of your earnings back into your business, don’t view it all as income. Hire a writer, or a virtual assistant, purchase an autoresponder, upgrade your membership to annual, buy images that are actually related to specific articles, outsource the jobs you HATE doing. Then concentrate on the stuff you LOVE doing.

31) Talking of income, put some aside for the Taxman.

32) Always remain humble. There’s no room for arrogance, be modest, accept your faults, but by the same respect, don’t judge your shortcomings.

33) Hug more often. There really is no better feeling in the world than to be held tight. I typically hug everyone I know. Okay, my CEO and the homeless guy I bought a coffee for find it a little strange. But that’s just me.

34) Forget the MONEY. Don’t look at your readers, website visitors, subscribers with $$$ signs in your eyes. It’s NEVER about “What They Can Do For You”. It’s ALWAYS about what you can do for them.

As always, Thank you for reading.

Partha, These are all good tips and will help anyone who actually uses them.

Thanks for sharing them with us all.

It is really nice that you do actually care about helping people instead of just making money by any means available. That means you are adding value and being a positive influence on all you come in contact with - and I like that.

That makes you a good guy in my book - and since you are a good guy I love you too!

Have a wonderful day today and a better one tomorrow my friend.

Best regards,

L.D. Sewell
