What I learnt from my first marathon!

Last Update: January 27, 2018

So, yesterday was an important moment for me. I completed my first ever marathon! Here are a couple of pictures from my post from yesterday if you want to have a look:

For those who have done a marathon, you know how tough it gets. And it is how you handle those tough moments that will determine how you finish the marathon. I have always been a runner, and I do short distance races constantly. So I didn't have any doubt in my mind that I was going to finish it. My goal was to to get a solid time - for me that was 3:30.

But, I also didn't know how much it took to complete a marathon. They don't call it a marathon for no reason - and I certainly understood what it meant. I was doing really well in the beginning, but when it was about 6-7 miles left, I was absolutely finished. I was exhausted, and I felt like I didn't have another hair of energy left for me to continue. But I did.

What did I say to myself? Well, I kept telling myself that I doing this for a reason. I am almost to the finish line, and I am not going to stop now. And surprisingly enough, I thought about how this relates to life in general. We are always so close to our end goal, to what we want to achieve. But, a lot of us, and I mean a lot of us, end right before we hit that goal - or the finish line. And this is what kept me going. I didn't want to not finish, because I didn't want that habit to rub onto my life.

There are tons of other things that I learnt from my marathon. And I will write more stuff that I got out of the marathon in future posts. A lot of things went through my head on why I should stop. But the main thing was just that, as in life, we are always never far from the finish line. We just need to keep at it until we get there. And eventually we will. Keep on at it and best of success to you all! :)

That first marathon will stay with you Parmi, my take home is that many folks give up just before they make it, to the finish line.
You will be looking forward to and training for the next one.

Yes I will Alex! Think I will never have another marathon as tough as this one because I will always have done 1 marathon at least from here on out. Yup, hopefully the next marathon happens soon :). Thanks for all your support Alex!

Thanks for that Alex! Yeah, you're so right. Building your brand online is like a marathon - it takes a while but eventually you get there if you keep at it :)
