3 Tips for Setting Your 2014 Goals

If you're like me, you're busily setting your 2014 goals for Wealthy Affiliate. I find that if I set them properly, I'm a lot more likely to carry through. Here are the guidelines I use for myself; hopefully others might find them helpful, too:

1) Be challenging yet realistic.

I don't like to aim too low because I won't reach my full potential if I don't stretch out of my comfort zone. On the flip side, if my expectations are unreasonably high, I run the risk of getting discouraged and giving up when I don't achieve those monumental but totally unrealistic goals. The best goals strike a balance between making you stretch and still being within reasonable reach.

2) Give yourself the tools you need.

If you're here at Wealthy Affiliate, you already have an important set of tools at your disposal. Make sure you have everything else you need, too. Schedule a block of time each day to go through the WA training and work on your websites. Invest in a new computer if your old one is on its last legs. You can't build anything if your tool box is barren or full of broken tools.

3) Don't give up.

It's so easy to abandon your goals when you don't see immediate success or when you get off track with your schedule. That's the worst thing you can do, yet it's so easy that the "abandonment trap" claims the majority of people who make New Years resolutions every year. Don't fall into it yourself. If you neglect your training and websites, redirect yourself and start up again. If you're not meeting your goals as quickly as you'd like, set back, reassess your plan, and alter it as needed.

The time is right to build your platform for success in the New Year. Hopefully these three tips will help you to build it strong and sturdy to carry you through the next 12 months successfully.
