I'm disappointed that this seems to be more about promoting WA than about a real, legit, work from home on your computer opportunity. I am a programmer, and very good at what
yes it is expensive but to me, i think of it as: it is saving me HOURS of research ( do a lot of research/learning online). My time is worth a lot of money - to me. Additionally, WA makes a lot of things so much easier and streamlined which his another reason I feel like the price is totally worth the premium membership cost. That said, I REALLY like paying the annual fee because I can pay it & forget it.
Yes it is expensive, but you save a lot if you go yearly. That is what I am doing. As for promoting WA, this is your free choice. I have a site about mountains, have a look. Certification Courses will give you a good education, nothing related to WA.
Is this really about my niche or about promoting wa?

The Bootcamp is about promoting WA, this is for people without a Niche. As for it being expensive, it isn't really, when there are private Wordpress tutors out there charging as much as $250 an hour. That is without the site hosting.
You could create a site here based on programming seeing that's your profession, write all kinds of articles on your site related to that niche and create affiliations with Amazon linked to programming books etc. I'm sure there would be a multitude of sites with products you can sell with your knowledge.
The whole point of WA is to teach you HOW to market and promote your product/service.
