I've been asked to insert a link to someone's site to be included in one of my posts.

This is great, but they are asking how much to pay for this.

I have no idea. A

Hi Owan,
My opinion - If someone asked you to insert their site link on your site, they must see your site has some authority in the niche. You can actually check their site and if their site is good and has authority, it might be a win-win situation to get your link on their site too (links exchange).

Otherwise, it's your call to how much you want to charge for it.

Joe:)

Thanks for your thoughts Joe.

If the site is below the level of your site, you will be reducing your own Page Rank by linking. An authority site would probably not ask. So think twice if you really want this easy money.

Thanks. I'll have to look more into this.

You could ask for inserting one of your links to their website or ask them to write a post of minimum 1000 words which will include their link on your website. But I would do this only if the niche is related to yours.

Thanks. Good idea to include a link on their site

I've noticed recently while checking my realtime visitors on my Google Analytics some with extensions including 'replytocom'.

I haven't noticed it before and so am a bit

I need to look and see if I have these. Thanks for sharing.

It's only been quite recent, maybe the last week or so. I thought it was a bit odd and so thought to check it out.

Here is a great article on this issue: https://www.tricksbag.com/fix-replytocom-links-issue/

Mal, I haven't noticed this yet but bookmarked it for future reference. I will have to explore All in One as I don't use Yoast.

Thank you. Will check out that article.

You're welcome.

Thanks for this information Owain
Very helpful.

As often as you need to

If you haven't completed the training just stay on track with it, it will keep you where you need to be. Beyond that, if you can post 3 times a week, your rating will stay from 90% to 100%

It's been a while since I did the training. I did redo it a few months ago, (courses 1-3), when I set up my 2nd website.

Back then I would do 2-3 posts a week. But now as I am doing improvements I've had to cut back to doing 1 post a week.

Maybe in a couple of weeks I'll get back to 2 posts a week.

When I post twice a week, my rating is between 70-80 percent. I imagine that you need 10 posts a month to stay at 100%

Yeah that would make sense.

I find though informative posts are quick and easy to write, compared to reviews which take longer.

Maybe when my improvements are out the way then I will do one of each every week.

Reviews take a lot of time when they are done thoroughly. I have pages on my site providing list of websites, the review about each of those sites takes a lot of time to put together.

It takes me a good 4 hours to do a thorough review.

I’m working hard on optimizing my site, in particular the home page. I’ve cut out a lot of text and reorganized the layout.

It loads faster now but I’m

This depends on alot of facts. The main question is what is the purpose of your home page?

No one, including experts can give you advices without knowing the answer to this question.

For example, most blog posts purposes or goals are to drive traffic to the home page. This comes with the term contents marketing. When we talk about marketing, this does not mean a sale. To get a sale or action, there must be more. This more is the home page or landing page.

To get a good advice, you need to provide more information.

If just whether or not keeping comments, for me only the relevant one.

Thanks for your insight. My home page is still in development.

Mainly though it shows who I am, how I can help and what my site has to offer.

Then I have pictures with links to the separate sections of the site.

Followed by current deals and bargains. After that I will have testimonials.

I have set up email marketing, and have a pop up when someone is leaving the site. But I want to have email subscription on my home page as well.

Ok, your site is what we call a non-business blog. In this case, you want to keep those comemts that are relevant to the keyword that you want to rank. Other you should delete because it adds no value to the content.

Good luck

Thanks.

There was one time that I read in a blog post of a guru, that we should not optimize our home page. He said, it is in the individual posts that we should aim for ranking. But then, it's your preference. So, go for it. Who knows it might lead you to something great. :)

I think what I have done so far can only help me and my rankings.

I altered the pictures on the home page and thus reduced the file size of them considerably. I feel that anyone going to my home page will not have to wait long now and hopefully will stick around more. I have seen a reduction in bounce rate for that page. So it must be working.

I would keep but make sure you can approve them first.

I know how to add a YouTube video to a post. You just paste in the URL into the editor.

But how do you put in a video at a certain point?

Obviously I will have

Hi Owain

Go to the video and take it to the point where you need it to be, pause it, right click somewhere in the middle of the video and select the "Copy video URL at current time" option.

You should be able to paste the URL into the editor and it will start the video at that specific point.

Hope that is what you need?

Regards,
Kamil

Perfect! Thanks for that Kamil. I was hoping it would be that easy.

Just tried it and it works a charm. Thanks again.

Glad it worked Owain, pleasure ;)
