Unsubscriber Pain!
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to share my frustration when people unsubscribe from my mailing list. I have learned to accept it but it still bothers me a little.
I have a subscriber box at the top of my website. And people are welcome to join my mailing list from anywhere on my site.
So after I have written a new post and emailed my subscribers it won't be long until someone unsubscribes from the list.
It does take a knock on because I have worked hard on the post. Also, I feel if you don't want to get notified of posts then why subscribe in the first place.
My wife says that it's because it wasn't what they were expecting. But I have a genealogy site where I give advice on family history, so what do you expect?
I feel the same when someone leaves my Facebook, Google Plus or Twitter following. But this will continue as my site grows. It is something that I will and you will learn to accept.

Good to know about your experience. Will help me to be prepared if and when I reach that stage.
To me it sounds normal because as you have people subscribing in so you would expect that others gonna leave. Am sure the ones remaining are the ones who deserve and so there's nothing to worry about.
Sorry to hear that, are you sure they are receiving your posts properly and not getting something else? You never know if there is a glitch.
I think they're getting them alright. It's not every time that I email that there is a new post. Just every so often there will be one person who will unsubscribe.
Yep they'll come and go. But hopefully they will come again when they see what more my site will have in time.
Yes you will have to learn to accept this. It's just the nature of the business. Subscribers come and subscribers go. Be glad that you have subscribers.
What have you done to monetize your list? And have you found products that are relevant to the post that you are writing?
Thanks
FeltonT.
Yeah it's something to get used to.
At the moment I have just set up a subscriber list for people interested in new posts. But I will set up other lists in the future.
I've got a mixture of reviews and informative posts. With the informative posts I do try to link to a product or another post of mine that reviews a product.
Hi,
Don't worry about that, I am sure there are a lot of people that love reading ur posts. Don't let it get to you. Keep it up!
I know what you mean. I feel the same way when someone unsubs from one of my social media accounts. People are like that. A lot of the time it's not what you're doing, it's just them.
But if you wanted to figure out why people unsubscribe, I know some mailing services have where you can make a little exit survey. Maybe ask them some questions like why they're leaving, how could you improve their experience, what were they expecting, etc.
Keep up the good work :)

Thanks Marlinda, I didn't think of that. Will have to check with Sumo whether they do offer that.

people are fickle, mate. Usually a genetic disposition, which can be traced back through the generations :)
Lol, cheers.
