Hi! Can someone help me with this xml error. I am using wordpress yoast SEO
`<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="//anyone
It does sound like the Yoast SEO plugin is causing problems. Yoast is a good SEO plugin, but I know from experience it can cause problems with your site.
if you switch to all in one SEO plugin it may fix the problem
Hi - look in the root of your directory, eg, yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml
Also, as it's generated by the SEO plugin - can you confirm what version you're using? That first character obviously shouldn't be there - so if the plugin is adding it, it may not be up to date.
Cheers, Mark
I just updated to 1.5.4.2 this morning. Not sure how to access the root of my directory. Is it something I can do safely without messing everything up, or do I need to let the experts handle it?
Thanks for trying very hard to help me. I did everything suggested. Yoast SEO was correctly set up, the right parameters are enabled/disabled, I deactivated and then activated. I have waited 1 full day to see if it will be able to regenerate a new sitemap, but it's not.
I am getting a "Page not found error now". The character, ` shows at the top left corner of my wordpress dashboard. That's the same character that's at the beginning of the initial xml error message. Looks like that character is being automatically inserted in front of my tags and seo titles.

When I typed it in Webmaster, I didn't put index in it. I think it comes up with your domain name, then you select the button to submit sitemap. So you just type in sitemap.xml after your domain. Also on your Yoast dashboard, there is blue click here to see your sitemap. It should list your sitemap on your site when you click on it.

Hi, Has anyone else signed up with infolink? I signed up with them. The whole idea of pictures or videos popping up when the mouse hovers over the link is intriguing. My problem
When I go to sites with infolinks on them it really discourages me from staying on there, and I never like those things just popping up on there, to be honest, I don't think they will help your site.
It would not be so bad if the ads were relevant. What's so annoying is how far apart they are from the subject matter and theme of the blog. They might work for certain sites, but definitely not for mine.
Having Infolinks on your site degrades it immediately. I really think you should avoid having annoying stuff which gets in the way of a 'good user experience' on your site.
Jay said in one of his WAbinars that Infolinks should never be used - maybe he's speaking from experience!
He must be speaking from experience. Anyway, I did disable the plug-in once I found out I had no control over what ads go on the links. I'm not sure how long the ads were on my site before I noticed. I hope I didn't lose potential visitors due to those ads.
I agree, the adds are not relevant at all and you have very little control. I disabled my plugin for know. When I get caught up , I am going to look at what type of control they offer.
Hi Rod, I wouldn't have added it on my site to begin with if I knew how they operate. It's gone from my blog. Definitely not the right program for me right now. Thanks for joining in the conversation. If you don't mind sharing, who are your favorite affiliate programs?
I have an infolink account. I must tell you... they do get out of control. In my experience regardless of your setting- they somehow manage to invade your header among other places on your site... displacing your own information making your site dysfunctional, an eyesore and turnoff to readers.
I have decided to halt using them for now- as they are not suitable for my current websites.
With that said, there are sites which can take great advantage of their services... so make sure yours is among them.
Best wishes, Yolette
Hey Yolette, your experience mirrors mine. They didn't have any on my header though, but my footer panel was filled with 2 to 3 rows of irrelevant keywords and Ads, much more than the number I allowed in my settings. That kind of random advertising does not go well with my blog, so I'm done with them for now, maybe another project in the future.
Take care,
Onyeka
In terms of infolinks viewing audience, do keep in mind that it is primarily male, coming first, out of India (talking percentages), then out of the usa (but following by less than half) and third out of Pakistan. So does this demographic fit with the ads that are popping up ... or with the audience you want most to reach?
If you judge the value Infolinks gives the blogging world and advertisers by how much it is worth monetarily, then it is suffering a consistent downward trend; that is, as a business it has dropped in value nearly $4million in the last 16 months.
MOST importantly is that the audience shares very, very few links/connections (compared to your other options) with FB and/or with G+. So, your work, it seems to me anyway, will not be showcased and leveraged the way it can be using other media "arms". Miniscule "reach".
I hope this information helps you. .... While I personally find their landing page very compelling and attractive, the hidden, underlying facts are those above.
Thanks Emme,
Looks like the common opinion here is to avoid them totally. I already disabled the plug-in and will not be enabling it. My blog niche does not allow for that kind of random, out-of-control advertising. I'm new and still trying to establish a reputation.
Yes, that's why I decided to try it. It looks cool on the website, if you can get the relevant ad for the link they attach it to. I think they needed to give some control to the publisher, as far as what ads they want on their site.
I signed up for it. I only have it on one page and not sure I'm going to keep it. A lot of people I have talked to said they got rid of it because it makes your site look spammy. Like I said right now I only have it on one page so it doesn't overwhelm my site.
Thanks for your response, Jennalee32. I couldn't even stand it on one page. I can set the number of ads I want on a page, it's just never the relevant one. It's automatically assigned by some keyword recognition tool, so you can't make the choice as to what you want. I think I'm just going to let it go for my current website.
I signed up for it for one of my websites and it seems alright. It's pretty hands off to use.
Being pretty hands off is what I dislike about it. It will be so much better If I could choose my ads myself.

Happy Friday fellow WA colleagues,

Here is the easy way to do it.
Go to appearance > menus. Select: create a new menu. Name it Privacy Policy and click Create Menu.
Now select a menu to edit in the drop down at top.
Remove Privacy Policy from your main menu. Then add your Privacy Policy Page to the Privacy Policy Menu.
Now go to your footer widget area and add the custom menu widget.
Here you can add the Privacy Policy Menu from the drop down. Don't give it a title. Click save.
There you have it...
Hope this is clear enough and helped you out.

hi :
if your theme offer a footer widget area, you can place a "text" widget within the area. of course, you need create the privacy note as text widget.
hope work for you.
to further tweak the website look and function, it is essential know something like HTML and CSS.
You don't need to use a text widget. You can keep the privacy policy page and use the custom menu widget, which is just like having another menu :)
Thanks for your input. i will try the suggestions and I'll let you guys know if any of them works or not. Thanks and have a great weekend.

I actually installed that theme, but haven't played with it too much yet.
Does it have a footer menu? If not, does it have a bottom widget? You could put a custom menu in there.
It does have a footer menu, but I have tried adding it there and it didn't work. The word privacy did show up, but would not link to the page. I have also tried adding custom menu too, but I couldn't get it to work either. I will try using the script from the customize area, Rizzer just suggested that. I'll report on if it worked or not.
Thanks a lot.
Onyeka
If you push the blue customize,it button on the top bar of wordpress it will open up a sidebar on the left.
Look for the scripts section, and expand it. Scroll down to the Scripts in to footer section.
Your can put a normal link in here that will show up in your footer but it will only show under the theme makers details which does sort of hides it a bit.
The theme makers details can most likely be removed but it means going in directly and editing one of the wordpress theme files, not something you should do unless your absolutely sure of what you are doing.
Thanks, I will try and see what happens. The theme does have a scripts box. Thanks a lot!!

Hi Onyekachi, with captcha added to your comment section, do you see the person's email address? And can you tell me how you added it as well please. Much appreciated.
Hi stayhomewow, yes you will see the person's name, email, and comments on your comments section. Hopefully this helps.
Onyeka,
When I left a comment on your website, the captcha thing was there and worked fine. You since saw my comment published, so there was no problem. .......... That said, if you ever responded to my comment, that I have no way of knowing.
The other 2 issues are beyond my purvue, but am surprised to hear about the spam as you probably have had Akismet and the other Anti-Spam plugin in place from the beginning, right?
:-) Hang in there and blog us an update, please.
Emme
Hey Emme, thanks. I checked it from a different browser than the one I usually work from. It works great. I think the browser remembers the website every time I access it from there and so it automatically opens in the logged-in mode!! So it looks like the only problem now is the spam comments. I do have the basic Akismet, but I didn't upgrade. I'm gonna upgrade today and see if that totally stops those spam comments. They're really annoying!!
Hope you had a good day. I look forward to reading your blogs when they're ready. Later.
Onyeka
Onyeka, it is not necessary to upgrade in Akismet. It won't make a bit of difference.
Akismet does not stop spam - it only puts spam into the spam folder and you still have to delete the spam folder manually.
There are quite a few anti-spam plugins around. WordPress Zero Spam is well rated. Might be worth a try if you continue to have problems.

You may use these HTML tags and attributes:<a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title="">
<b> <blockquote cite=""&g
Thanks bluewell, problem is resolved now. Buck's suggestion did it.
I appreciate the support.
Onyeka
If you just want to get rid of that text but keep the comment available on the page you can use CSS to hide it.
- Go to appearance > editor
- Scroll down looking on the right hand side for your styles.css file and click on it.
- In the content box where the code is, look for the class name .form-allowed-tags (could also be ".comments-area .form-allowed-tags" or another variation of that)
- add this this style to that class: display:none;
- So the whole think should look like this when you are done:
.form-allowed-tags{
display:none;
}
Thank you Buck. Your instructions were very precise and it's gone now. You are awesome!!!
Is this gonna be the same way to remove the "logged in as onyeka log out?" that shows at the bottom of the page.
Can't thank you enough for all the help.
Onyeka
No problem, glad I could help.
As for the "Logged in as" I wouldn't worry about that, no one see's it except you and only when you are logged in.
However, if you really want to get rid of it, you do it the same way as the form tags except there's probably not any class styles set up for it as it usually uses the normal paragraph styles.
So in the styles.css file look for this style: .logged-in-as
If you don't find it, add this code yourself to the bottom of the style sheet:
.logged-in-as {
display: none !important;
}
NOTE: this is only going to work if this element is using the common class name... If it doesn't work, you can use "firebug" or similar software to find out what the class name is.
Let me know if you have any problems.
Hi Buck,
I can't find any of this in my styles.css file.
I have found this - the coding in the comments.php file, but still can't figure out how to edit it.....
'comment_notes_after' => '
If I put (display:none;) after . allowed-_tags, the whole comment area disappears
Hi.
These are the HTML markup that people who wish to leave comments on your posts/pages can use.
If you do not want to allow comments to a particular post/page - go to Post/Page -> hover over the one you want to not allow comments on - click on Quick Edit - and untick the Allow Comments box.

I actually switched from the All in One SEO to Yoast. I couldn't get the sitemap submitted on Google or Bing Websmaster Tools. I actually got it submitted and working right with Yoast. Make sure that the sitemap is activated, then type in yourdomain .com/sitemap.xml.
yoast have it as domain/sitemap_index.xml
When I typed it in Webmaster, I didn't put index in it. I think it comes up with your domain name, then you select the button to submit sitemap. So you just type in sitemap.xml after your domain. Also on your Yoast dashboard, there is blue click here to see your sitemap. It should list your sitemap on your site when you click on it.
ok click on sitemaps in youas and see where it will bring you
