Amazon Windfall - 0 to $134 in 2 months!

This was one of the biggest regrets and mistakes in my affiliate marketing journey. Now l remembered Kyle emphasizing that 'You Must Not Leave Money On The Table' in the 'Get Started Course'. Of course, this was a little bit different, l had to think outside the box.

l reviewed a lot of product based MLMs on my website and noticed that visitors who commented suggested better alternative products to each other. So, 3 months ago l decided to offer their suggested products using Amazon affiliate links on 5 of my reviews. Instead of using screen shots of products which l reviewed, l uploaded Amazon image based ads instead.

Two months later, l earned $17 in July and $117 in August. Can you imagine how l was '....leaving money ($100/month) on the table'. What if l add products to the other 10 - 15 reviews? A conversion rate of almost 9% - not bad. The commission rates are increasing too.

Just an extra passive income - Did not write any extra product reviews, just converted the already existing traffic.

Learning is indeed a process.

l hope this make you start thinking of other methods of monetizing your existing websites.

UPDATE:

P/S- note that some payments can go down due to refunds. These amounts also exclude Amazon bounties - commissions paid if traffic that you send to Amazon enrolls for free trials even if they don't end up purchasing the product. The amount paid depends on the offer but it is often between $3 - $5. It adds up. This is similar to Cost Per Action (CPA) offers.

In November l earned $1,097.40. This was partly because Amazon was paying a fixed 12% commission throughout this month.

In December,l decided to sell the website. That is another story for another blog.

When I set out missed the call to action part the main thing you took notice and did something with it so a job well done and helps others keep this in mind wish you continued success

Thank you Katie. Wish you the same.

Awesome! You found a great way to increase earnings without churning out post after post. Thanks for sharing.

You are most welcome. It's worth testing different monetization methods. All the best.

Congrats to you. I hope you have many more.

Thanks. l wish you the same.

That is pretty awesome how you did that, I am going to try it on my website, thanks for sharing your info.

l hope you have tried it out and found it useful. Earned $1 097.40 in November. Amazon was paying a flat commission of 12% on most items. All the best.

This is a very interesting point in your follow-up comments:

"I only included a picture of the product using Amazon's 'image only banners'. What l realized is, people who shop at Amazon can easily identify the images (even sub-consciously l presume) and they click on the pictures."

I recently suggested to somebody that including the Amazon logo and "Shop Now" button because (1) Amazon is a trusted brand and (2) "Shop Now" is a Call-To-Action. I had not thought about the subliminal-recognition aspect of just using "image-only" banners to illustrate your content.

Pardon me for the late response, the holidays got in-between. l think using Calls-To-Action (CTAs) is great if your website is entirely an Amazon affiliate website. Mine is in the 'make money online niche' and it would be inappropriate to bash a program then include CTA buttons. Generally people do not want to be sold to, l have seen that CTAs such as 'view on Amazon' or 'read Amazon confirmed buyer reviews' to be more effective. Never include an Amazon logo on CTAs because if they find out, you will be instantly banned. All the best.

This is great! Glad you were able to find a way to monetize your old posts. That's awesome!

Thank you for the kind words. Got $329,38 in September and will be surpassing $450 target this month.

How old is your site for these posts?

Created the website on June 24, 2014 and moved it to WA in Feb, 2016 from Name Cheap. Most of the high ranking posts are less than 6 months old. See screen shoot for other metrics.

I'm interested in seeing the post that you are talking about please? I know what you are talking about, but I don't know how many links to add without looking too "spammy"?

Hi Whiteley,

Here is an example of one of the posts with Amazon affiliate links. http://avertscams.com/kyani-product-reviews/ l only included a picture of the product using Amazon's 'image only banners'. What l realized is, people who shop at Amazon can easily identify the images (even sub-consciously l presume) and they click on the pictures.

On http://avertscams.com/lularoe-review-lularoe-clothing/ l encouraged people to read comments by people who found a cheaper alternative to Lularoe leggings then used my affiliate link to do so. l am now experimenting with Amazon's native ads (placing products below the review). The click through rates and conversions are poor though.

There are no fast rules though, just give it a try and tweak the ads as you go.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

All the best.

Wow, very well done!
This is definitely something I can look into adding on some of my reviews as well. Thanks for sharing :)

You are most welcome. Give it a try. Remember to create new Amazon IDs for each review so that you can track conversions. At times you just need to place a link with the words '.... read more comments about ....... from Amazon customers'. You must also check the sources of traffic visiting the reviewed program's website so that you can judge if it is worth it to place Amazon Ads and whether to use UK or USA ID. All the best.

Awesome, congrats on your Amazon sales and I know you are just brushing the surface here of things to come. When it clicks, it CLICKS!

Keep up the great work and keep us updated with your success moving forward. ;)

Thank you Kyle, it is indeed just the beginning of better things to come.

That is terrific, congratulations. I never thought of doing this. Thanks for sharing and congratulations!

You do have think outside the box a lot, it helps. :)

Thank you Jenna, go ahead and give it a short. Don't make it too obvious though. All the best.
