How To Get Ignored in Live Chat and Degrade Yourself
1. Be rude and use lots of &%$^%$& words
2. Ask a question and just left without saying thanks/acknowledgement, or even something simple like a :)
3. Insult people by calling names
4. Constantly posting your own website link and asking for feedback
5. Not appreciative of the help you have received
Hello friends,
Just some ranting here today as I have met a few nasty people in Chat, and it actually gave me an idea for a new post, which I am writing here.
Building an online business is not only a business, sometimes it's the person behind it too, so.....if you have a sucky personality......maybe your business will suffer too.
BUT, there is always a remedy for the negative stuff, so let's go on to the positive:
How To Get Help in Chat
1.Be polite and respectful – good manners isuniversally accepted
2. Be appreciative - people have no obligation to help, they aretaking time away from their own stuff to help YOU
3. Be specific – this is my personal opinion, train yourself tobe concise and to the point and use as little words as possible, thathelps in our writing too :)
4. If you didn't get an answer in Chat, ask it again, someone elsemay see it and answer. Or post it in a blog, you are likely to getmore complete and detailed answers.
That's all folks, if I think of more, I will add on.
Adios!
Moon

carl
Yes they are Carl, I think you have more to deal with as you are constantly in there helping :)
I guess I have been lucky in that I have very rarely seen anyone be rude or inconsiderate, but a reminder like this is always good.
I might be a broken record but some folks just take a little time to get into the WA swing of things, so to speak, Thank you for sharing your insights Moon you make some very good points.
I am rarely in chat, it's going too fast for me, but I have been tempted to write a post like this several times, I see the chats come by on the right, and I often wonder why people place such nasty and unconsidered messages. It doesn't look inviting to me to get involved too. I do understand your rant very well
There are people chatting and people asking for help or helping in there, and that's usually my purpose too, so Im in there a lot. It's a great place to get to know our members but some do put me off. I'm just glad there are only a few rotten eggs among the tons of gold :)
Keep up the good works in chat, I am too old, and not quick enough, when I type something and want to read the question again, it's way down and while scrolling it's shifting at the same time. I admire people who can cope with this function
I just went to research EMDR, wow you are knowlegeable, no wonder you can provide such a lot of training.
For the benefit of others, here's info from wikipedia:
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy developed by Francine Shapiro that emphasizes the role of distressing memories in some mental health disorders, particularly posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
That's good advice. I'm not subjected to those insults but I got angry on behalf of those who were, so letting off some steam here.

Well said, I refuse to engage in live chat and never will because of what you say. Building a website is more important...
Oh well, you don't have to take it that way, chat is a great platform to ask questions and get answers quickly. Of course your website is the main thing so focusing on it and not get sidetracked is good too.
