I have to say that content is king, also consistency. Relevance, current, and historic as it is in my case on one site [vales are values and people want to know if you tell it with style and honesty]
It simply is a process you have to exercise with diligence, and the reward's comes from it.
Anyone thinking or expecting differently will surely be disappointed, OK maybe there are extenuating circumstances and niche' that defies that process, but I dare say they are few.
These Chinese Proverb come to my head and I want to express in this situation:

The chemistry is not just having a website, writing, posting a lot of products and services to Visitors, NO! , It's YOUR THOUGHTS, PERSONALITY, NICHE' RESEARCH AND AUTHORITY. THIS WILL CONNECT AND CREATE A ''MORISH NEED''
I am not saying writing blogs or content gets you there, I am saying that if you are not prepared to put yourself in the shoes of your readers, what they want and search for, preempt what they are likely to ask next and provide resources and answers then you are going to miss a lot of opportunities.
