How To articles are huge for SEO.

Perhaps "How to Wax a Snowboard" ?

Yup.

So just to add, I have just found a decent keyword I want to do an article about: 'how is a snowboard made' but don't want to do it if it won't rank.

If I was to do it I would make a article title along the lines of 'The question all riders wonder: How is a snowboard made?"

or something like that..!

Hey Olie, questions are great. Just think about all of the people who are starting to use voice command on their phones to search the internet.

A high percentage will be questions, such as "what is the weather going to be like today"? "Where is the closest Chinese restaurant"?

You get the picture. Personally, I would swap the article title around so it reads... "How is a snowboard made: The questions all riders wonder"

That way, your main keywords are right at the beginning of the title.

Great idea LeeRay!

"Build a Better Mousetrap" - I've been writing a long time. Depending on topic, longer articles are pulling better traffic for me, personally. Now, as Eric eloquently pointed out, write it as long as it needs to be. We don't want to bore the reader to death. But, as Jovo's link points out, make good use of title, section headers, sub-headers and so on. Allow the web visitor to scroll down and easily pick out the part that interests them. Generally, my tutorials, lists and reviews range from 1,000 - 2,000 words. JMHO

This might help:

I like this Jovo, thanks!

thanks!

I write until I've said everything that needs to be said. Anything more is fluff and folks will notice.

I've heard and read that 1500 words is a goal and that Google considers lower word count in a dim light.

Interestingly many of my articles and reviews are less than 1000 words and rank well.

ROCK ON!
E

Thanks E, this was my concern - is there a kind of minimum?

I ask because at the moment I do articles that tend to last for 800- 1200 words, and some of them are second page rankers on google at the mo, my best yet.

However some of the topics that rank great are really quite simple articles that would not last longer than 500 words.

I will take your advice and just write until the article is fully explored.

Thanks again E :)

Another helpful tip - use plenty of internal links to boost your article rankings.

When someone comments on an article of yours and you respond see if there is opportunity to add a link in there to another post or review of yours.

If you'd like you can check out my site as I've done this quite often and it has helped. My site is on my profile under my picture.

One time I had an article jump up 89 places on Google. Here is a post I wrote about this: ROCK ON!
E

Great, thanks E! A great tip.

You're welcome Ol, my pleasure.

Hi Olie. Perhaps by now you have chosen, and I hope you have chosen to do both, much success to you.

Thanks, I have indeed chosen both! :)

Excellent!

I would do both, it couldn't hurt and I live in the U.S. And yes it is popular.

I did a lot of research and know that Advantlink is the best affiliate network for my niche (freestyle snowboarding). I submitted my website to them but it got rejected. I thin

Hi Olie :) why don't you ask them directly? ask them what it would take for your site to meet their standards,...look at other sites in your niche that carry the adds of this affiliate...what can you learn from them?

Thanks Stevie,

I have done just that!

It seems like a really stupid question but I can't for the life of me work it out! What I'm getting at is changing the image at the top right of your wordpress dash where it says "

Hi Olie! Yeah, you'll need to create an Gravatar account and upload your profile picture to the server. By the way, I faced a problem when creating the Gravatar account, here I show you one of my blog and hope that it'll help you out, you can also follow the step that I am creating the Gravatar account. Hope it helps!

Thank you very much mate, much appreciated

had exactly the same issues with email confirmation email not coming, thanks so much for taking the initiative to also link me to the blog post it really really helped.

I don't suppose you can also point me in the direction of how I can change my username from 'admin' to my own personal name? Then I'm about done, haha.

Thanks again man.

I'm happy that I could help on your first point! But on the second point, yeah you're right, I never thought of that in changing the username as it's' attached to WA here with direct login, really never thought of that... Maybe I'll use some time to look into it.

ahh sorry man I didn't mean to open up a can of worms! haha.

Ok cool no problem, if it's automatically linked then it's no stress. Thanks a lot for the guidance here, your blog post was massively helpful.

Cheers,
Olie.

Hi Olie, I just found out that when I get along with the 'Get Started Here' Course 2, I had forgotten as if on Lesson 8 or 7, Kyle did mentioned that to create another administrator user in wordpress, and you'll be able to use a brand new username of your preference.

Just get along with the lessons and you'll find out the same too! I just created mine.

Thanks for letting me know that SmileofJoy, I really appreciate it.

I'm almost at that lesson now! :)

Alright, I'm happy to lend you an hand!

you need to get yourself a gravatar account. this will give you the image you desire

Thanks for the help man :)
