I am building a site that will be affiliated with some other site like Amazon, e.t.c, I mean selling a product on their platform, and checking the web, most site I saw does not
The point of writing about yourself is to let your readers know that you are an actual person with a real opinion they can listen to when purchasing new products in your niche with links from your website.
Anytime you mention yourself you develop trust with your readers. When I first started I never wanted to mention myself, but I'm the one making the sales, so let your readers/viewers know who you are. :)

Yeah, as mentioned by Huffman if people visiting your site can connect with you, they will be more likely to buy things through your website - so essentially it's a tactic to increase sales.
It also installs trust - people will know that you are passionate about your website since you went to the effort of writing about yourself and again they will be more likely to buy from you :)
You will actually find even most of the big companies have "about me" pages or "company story" pages :)
