Okay folks. Just thought I'd knock uo a quick blog post as i'm about to set off on my daily exercise run which consists of about a 2 mile round trip on the mountain bike whic i try to do on a daily basis. This exercise recently though, has been serving more purpose than one.

Physical Exercise

So, the main reason that I took up cycling again after many years was to try and get fit again after far too much time spend indoors.over this past year and a half with lockdowns and all.

I was always a keen walker and never cared too much for cycling and i was always in great shape too.

But over the past little while, i have nbeen finding myself getting properly unfit. So when my partner persuaded me to start coming out cycling with her, then i was more than happy to give it a try.

I must admit, to start with, i was always ten yards behind - Wait Up! Haha. But before long, i could feel my legs strengthen and now i can handle all gears no problem. Even uphill riding isnt asbacd as it was only a few months ago.

So, I now try and set myself to the same set circular route that i try to do every evening or at least once a day. Sometimes i just walk it. But most of the time, i take the bike. Its also a great way to see a lot of things i havent seen before, especially as the area i ride around has a lot of history included around there, altough theres little to be seen unless you know what you're looking for.

Reasearch Exercise

The Circular ride i like to do each day takes me through a nature reserve that, although only a stones throw from the hustle and bustle of the Town that lies only about a half mile away (if thta).

This are wasnt always like this though. It only was relandscaped and planted a few years ago. It was however a buzzing site of Industrial use some of which dates back to the early nineteenth century and right up to the most recent giant being the British Leyland Factory which would have build all the Leyland Trucks you see made between 1962 and 1986 when the plant was closed.

After lying demolished for many years, the pat ground was reevoloped about 15 years ago and turned into a horrible looking new built housing estate where people pay too much money for shoddy build legoland homes.

One of the most heartbreaking items of historical interests lies only a few yeards from there houses on what is now a Golf course. That is the Site of Bathgate Castle.

Now, you may very well have never heard of this castle before and sadly enough, so many people in Bathate dont know about it, and many dont care because West Lothian is a sad area really. The historical groups would rather focus on things like mining history or other ubbish and just discard anything of antiquity.

But this castle was actually the castle from where the Royal Stewart Dynasty came from. These weere the monarchs of Scotland since the marraige of Walter the Steward to Marjorie Bruce in the early 14th century. Marjorie was the daughter of King Robert 1st of Scotland, known as Robert the Bruce who actually lived in this castle.

In effect, this castle is the actual roots of the presnt day Queen of the United Kingdowm, yet few even know of it's existence or care. That is why i am on a mission to give these things more air.

The Results

So in a bid to bring to the public knowledge some of these things, I have a website that i recently built. However, this has already been a buzzing facebook page for years.
