Problems Problems Problems

Another day, another mountain to climb. I was running errands yesterday and I noticed that the brakes on my car felt a little mushy. Yiou have to understand that I drive a 20 year old rust bucket, so I wasnt too surprised.

I made it home and was able to coast into my driveway because by this time the brake pedal was going all the way to the floor. Not good.

So I went inside and consulted by two favorite relatives, Uncles Google and Youtube. Come to find out the problem could be that I didnt have any brake fluid. I went back to the truck to check out that scenario. I could see that I had some brake fluid but I didnt know if it was enough.

I live a ways out of town so I didnt have a way to go buy the brake fluid. As a last resort, I called my other trusted uncle, AAA and ordered a tow truck to get my car to the garage.

As I'm writing this, I'm waiting for the truck to get here and take my vehicle to the car hospital and worrying if it can be repaired and how much its going to cost me.

Seems like the forwarder you go the behinder you get.

Take care all

Nancy

Lifes little intricacies getting in the way again.

Thankfully you weren't injured or cause others' injury.

Best!

Oh, I know this feeling all too well. Once you finally feel like you're making progress forward, and digging out of that figurative hole you've found yourself in, life has a way of pushing you back down again. Here's hoping it's not too expensive, so you can get over this hurdle and keep moving forward. Good luck!

Hi Nancy,

Many years ago I was a mechanic. I'm sure it can be fixed. The brake pedal going to the floor is often the sign of a leak either a blown wheel cylinder, caliper, or the master cylinder has gone bad.

In my opinion if it is an old vehicle go ahead and have them all replaced as when new parts are replaced the others that don't get replaced become the weakest link and next to go.

I wish you luck with your truck and hope you have a good reputable mechanic.

Sincerely,
- Glen B

Sound advice.

Hey Glen. Yeah, I have replaced so many parts on my old beater. But I figure an occasional repair bill is better than car payments. I have a great mechanic that I've dealt with for years and who I trust so I'm sure they'll do whatever is needed. Fingers crossed that I don't have to give up my first born to pay for it!

Good post.

Somebodies looking over you. Please put brake fluid in your truck.
most are located on the right side of your engine. I think it should be written on the container somewhere.

Fill it you should be able to see the level line you need to fill it up to. Take care!

Yes someone was surely looking out for me. I've had the brakes fail on that truck once already. I was going downhill at the time headed for the main highway intersection. At the last minute, I saw a big parking lot that I was able to coast into, get the truck turned around so it was facing back uphill again and coasted to a stop. I guess those prayers I do nightly pay off. Twice!!

Just keep on keeping on, life is un predictable... please you will be fine.

Bless you. Been there, done that. I was in traffic, pulled the emergency brake - - it broke. Coasted around the next corner. Finally came to a stop. It happened to be in front of a friends house. This was YEARS ago. I love your "uncles" as well, especially AAA. It will get better, keep on "truckin".

Nancy this to shall pass, just remember the bright side you did notice before there was an accident. Stay positively positive. Lol
Blessings
