Mobile Usage might be dropping but is Desktop Usage going up?
How do your overall stats look? Are they also dropping, staying the same or increasing?
Depending on your niche, it might just be due to everyone being in lockdown. As they are not out and about, they might be using their desktops/laptops to access your website.
You always need to look at stats in context, and not just one particular aspect, thinking it's something that you have done. Outside factors can also play a huge role, and you need to look at the bigger picture.
Hope that helps,
Chrystopher
Thanks, Christopher for your response, I guess that does make sense.
And yes my desktop usage keeps going higher while the mobile drops but from your point of view I guess that could be the reason why.
Once again thanks for taking the time to respond.

Dealing with drop in mobile usage?

Hi Nnakife,
I was checking my site loading speeds the other day and most of my desktop speeds were excellent. Many 100's among them.
The speeds on my mobile were another story completely. many were at 40's. I refreshed a couple that were showing 40, they went down to the mid 20's.
I looked at the google data, and it was telling me my image's needed optimization. Went to my site put my image loading on lazy load and still the mobile speeds were s l o ..w.
I Contacted site support
They came back and said Google is saying my images needed optimization.
My site speeds on mobile have never really been great, but a bit of a disappointment to see them down there.
The other thing, I submitted a new post for indexing the other day, and Google told me the page was mobile friendly, as were all my other pages..
I am not sure if you can just put it down to Covid, Nnakife...You might want to go check your site health and see where to go from there.
Stay Safe
Michael.
Thanks, Greensail, I like the "down to COVID" idea, lol, who knows it probably might be.
My site health is in good shape and yes my mobile pages have been bouncing up and down but mostly in the 60s and 70s and rarely ever down to 40s.
But I never experienced any fall in mobile usability all the while until lately even though nothing specific has changed.
Maybe I am just overreacting but then we will see.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers

Hey Nnakife,
You may find the following blog post to be very informative: Should You Ever Remove The Date From Your Posts And Pages? Also... see screen print for a second suggestion.
Hope you find this helpful.
Wow! Trish, I just had an interesting read and now I am not sure what to do anymore. A lot of people have different opinion on leaving or not leaving the dates.
If you dont mind my asking, what's your opinion on leaving the articles undated?
I'm in the middle of testing this myself. One site has had the dates removed while others do not. Only time will tell which works best.
I think some themes allow you to remove it but it's a standard feature of WP, unfortunately. The date can be removed with external plugins like Andre already said. Why do you want to remove the dates?
It came to my knowledge that having our articles undated helps with SEO, though I don't know how true this is, I do believe it's better when they are not dated, that way there won't be an issue of outdated contents. My opinion though.

Scott got you. If you are reviewing based on a template, then populating the information is necessary or the review template will have empty fields.
I did provide all the information present about the product. Most of the things listed are not available for the product.
That is why I don't know how to fix this, but will try what Scott said and see what happens.
Thanks for your response. I appreciate it.
Hello,
I don't see the image you said you were going to include but I believe I know the answer.
Edit your post (using the classic, not block editor). Scroll down to the Product Review Extra Settings section and click on Product to bring up a menu. Select Individual Product from the list (see attached image) and then don't forget to hit update to save your changes. Resubmit your page for indexing and wait.
Scott
Oh my goodness! Sorry, I thought I uploaded it, will do that right away. I will try the individual product and see what happens.
Thanks for your response.
Hi Scott, do you have any idea if these reviews don't show up on our blog roll?
If so, does that mean I have to add them on menus?
The review ends up on the post. The post ends up on the blog roll. The only other place the review ratings might show is in the google search results snippet (rich snippets).
That is what I dont understand, ot doesnt show up in my blogroll, more like a page. I can only view it if I go to my dashboard and click on reviews.
Which means there must be something wrong and I dont understand what.
Thanks for your response though, appreciate it.
Hi Mac, I don't know if this is a question or a statement, but yes I have the reviews section at my back end, and when I use it as a template for reviews then the post doesn't show up on my blogroll.
My question is if it is supposed to be that way?
So it looks like your theme or plugin is set to create a new post type called reviews. Because it's a different post type, they won't show on the blog roll.
My guess is that you have this turned on:
Enable review post type
What I don't know is if turning it off will convert existing posts back to normal or only new ones.
Yes Mac, the WP Lite plugin provides that option but I didnt know it will make the reviews not show on the blogroll.
I have done everything to stop receievingthese warnings from google but every review I create using this plugin brings this warning back for each product.
So I am thinking of deactivating the plugin but faced with another problem on how to transfer the review back to my normal blogroll before deactivating the plugin.
There are plugins out there to change post and page types. I don't know a name off-hand but they do exist. The other option is to simply copy from the old and paste into a new post but I'm not sure if you can move comments, etc.

Hi Guys, hope you all are doing great?
Sometime ago I asked a question on how to deal with trackbacks and was given answers on how to resolve it, by going to setting and
These are called pingbacks and it happens when another site links to yours. Often times this is a form of backlink spamming as these people are hoping that you will publish their comment and get a backlink themselves.
I personally don't allow pingback messages to even show up within my comment area. They are useless and a nuisance. You can delete them within your Settings => Discussion under the top Default Article Settings.
Uncheck the "Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks)" checkbox and this will no longer happen. (see attached image for reference as well)
Thanks Kyle for your response, but I already followed this step to uncheck the box and update the settings but it hasn't stopped.
Hi there Nnakife,
I saw your question about Pingbacks and Trackbacks on your posts. I had the same annoying problem too, but i was able to find a way to stop them from appearing on my new posts and also on my older posts as well. This solution has worked well for me and does not involve using any plugins or any form of code. This will help you too.
See how to fix it here: How to stop spam comments on Wordpress
Hi, Nnakife, Unchecking the "Allow trackbacks and pingbacks" in Discussion will only disable them for future posts and pages, it won't disable them in existing posts and pages.
To disable trackbacks and pingbacks in existing Posts and Pages, open the Post in text mode which the pingbacks are occurring in. If you're using Yoast, (which I am) scroll down until you see two boxes:" Allow comments" and "Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page". Check the Allow comments box, but make sure the Allow trackbacks is unchecked.
If your using All in One I'm not sure, but I imagine there will be something similar, hope this helps and best wishes.
P.S. As a last resort you can always use an anti-spam plugin.
Thank you very much Harry, I use all in one Seo, but I will do as you say and see if there is an option for that.
I hope that works out for me, cause I dont want to ads any more plugins as I already have a lot.
Will check this out.
Cheers
Hi Harry I tried the steps you gave me but unfortunately I didnt see any of these options under the post text version in All In One.
Hi, Nnakife, you can still disable trackbacks and pingbacks in existing posts using WordPress.
First you need to click on All Posts, which will bring up all your existing posts. Now, in the top right-hand corner click on Screen Options and in the box "Number of items per page" whatever figure is showing, change it to 999. Click on Apply.
You should now see a list of all your existing posts. At the top of the list check the Title box, now all you posts should be checked. Click on Bulk Actions, at the top or bottom of your list, it doesn't matter, and in the dropdown choose Edit and click Apply. Now you should see this (Image 1).
In the bottom right-hand corner click on Pings and in the dropdown select "Do not allow" and click on Update. Hopefully, this should protect all your existing posts from trackbacks and pingbacks.
if it is nothing to do with your niche - why not add a filter for nike and other common words they use - so you never see them and it is automatically dealt with.
as your siet grows i am sure you will get more of this - i had it for a while - it has now stopped.
so maybe over time after just deletion it will dwindle as they move onto their ext target.
good luck
phil
if you go to your settings discussion on your wordpress dashboard then you can use the blacklist to delete comments - note that it will search for words within words
as it says press will delete comments with wordpress so just be careful...
you could also untick the allow links and trackbacks from other blogs at the top of discussion
have you tried adding a comment with a link - go incognito and see what happens - it maybe that there is a plugin that improves it
all i did was trash them and tey stopped after a while...
Sorry but how exactly do I add comment with a link and where do I add the comment?
Sorry for my ignorance, I wish I knew better.
onto your site - you become a visitor and see if what you have setup works - rather than waiting to see - you test it.
you could use something like anti spam by creative motion - they have a massive database all registered users add spam to ad your comments are checked against that to determine whether it is spam or antispam bee - to help prevent trackbacks and doesn't resort ot a captcha.
to create the comment - the easiest way is to create it in sitecontent or on your site and add a link - copy and paste into your site comment

WordPress Trackbacks & Pingbacks You can also go to websites and click view details there you can also activate siteprotect (spamblocker) and makes sure it is green
Hope that helps
Thanks for your suggestions, I followed the settings and unticked the one with the trackback and pingbacks.
Just to let you know, the link you provided now leads to nowhere. It says the page no longer exists, I don't know if its a fault, or if it was deleted.
Thank you very much for your help. Let's see how it goes from here.

That's strange about the link as I always check out the link before I send them to anyone and it worked not long before I sent it to you
I just checked it out and you are correct it is not there anymore, not sure why but the main thing is to untick that particular box both Marion and I suggested.
The link mainly provided an image to help you out.
So all good in the end.
Andre
I just doubled checked the link I gave you and it had a space in it which gave you an incompleted link it is fixed now and when you click it this will appear as it should.
We have a couple of bad apples every now and then and I know of one who is probably your guy. Like Lily said, notify Site Support.
I really do think you need to let site support know about this.
Most unpleasant for you.
Hope you can block them soon.
