Wrong development in WA?
I have been in WA for a long time and are very happy to be here. It is one of the places in this business I trust. Strong words but true.
But for the first time, I got nad experience yesterday evening. Nothing severe but I haven´t manage to stop thinking about it, so I decided to talk about it here.
What I always have like most is a positive atmosphere here in WA, and this is the first time I saw pay it forward ideology in action.
There has been a massive development in the site comments. Mostly very positive. I needed one time for the particular reason to have one site outside WA, so I know for first hand how important it is to have site comments active.
But! Yesterday I got one of this new emails (must admit that I am a little bit worried that is coming to many emails after this new system about site comments. Already I need to delete a lot of emails without seeing most of it) about it was coming wish for site comment. It was with one of the things I had said I had an interest (which was of course true).
I had time yesterday to give three site comments but didn´t have time to give ten which give the moving higher on the list to get site comments for my site. But I click on the email to see which website is was if I know the material well enough to give value comments in a short time. Then I saw the things which asked for site comments was thing I am absolutely against even, so the category was right. I decided in the start to never comment on sites with things I am against for two reasons.
A) The only comments I always decline to accept in site comments for my site is the comments which are harmful to the thing I talk about in the article. I am ready to answer it if it comes from original search without a problem. Normally it is easy. But we are here to help each other, so I can´t understand why I should write a negative comment for another WA members and like I said I would never accept it myself.
B) If I write positively about the thing, I am absolutely against to help one site people can see it when they look at this site and think I say one thing but do another. Like I am 100% against guns and would never write positive stuff about guns. Then why should I write positive comments about guns?
When I saw the comment I wish I saw it was asked for comment about a thing I know very well and believe is unhealthy. And have a lot of reason for it built on research. So I declined to write a comment for it. With big surprise then pops up a box which said that if I didn´t write a comment, I would lose 2 hours of this 24 to get higher in the ranking!
For me, that was not a problem because the plan was not to be in the ranking. But for me, this was a big disappointment because this is the first time I have seen a punish in WA for not doing a thing.
And if Kyle sees this post, I would ask if this is a right development because I got a horrible test in my mouth (like we say in Iceland) because this is against all my positive experience of WA.

I think you are quite right to have this post on this particular issue.
I have received a lot of notifications these past days about there being a website I should comment on.
I have put them all in the bin without opening. I go and give comments when I want and have time. I do not like to be pushed and do not really like this new feature. As I have never opened one I, of course, do not know what happens. I understand you are upset by it. There are already so many things we should be doing but these should be done because we want to and also have the time for doing them.

I agree. You cannot be penalized for NOT writing comments about something you have no interest in. Example : Fitness and health are two of my interests. What am I to write about erectile disfunction if I am a woman?

Yes, sometimes it can be very difficult to find out what the owners want.
It is important to think in both directions (I know you do that). For example this morning I got comments where the writer wants me to let him know about my competitions! Why should I?
If Kyle or Carson see this, I would add that the new "New SiteComment Interest Match" emails sent out should be completely optional and have their own box to send or not in the email notifications configuration box.
Also by the time the WA member is going to read/process that email, there may be no matches. I had 5 such "new match" emails however by the time I read the email/processed them, no matched interest sites were looking for comments.
Agree. But the ask for comment is only till enough have answered it.
if you ask for five comments, you get your five and after it is not asking for more, understandable. So if I come late, many times there are already enough comments.
the whole point of site comments is give-and-take. You Will by definition at some point come across of you disagree with.why would you have to agree with everybody else's choice of niche. There are probably many members here who disagree with what you write about? Ultimately do we have the right to judge anybody's niche?
It is not what I was talking about! I was talking about that WA is punished people to decide to not comments on a site.
But about your question, yes we do it all day in some form.
To help people my way is not sending a negative comment, so I don´t damage their website. I think it is much better for them. There is nothing wrong to agree or not agree with product/site etc.
It is not the reason for the post but I can if you want to know it telling you that in this case, I know very well proper research which has shown proved that this product was unhealthy. It is no way I would have to give a positive comment on it.

I do not think we should judge somebody,s website/niche. But when I come across something I do not agree with I have 3 options.
I agree even if I do not ( this I refuse to do)
I say I disagree ( in a nice way of course) and give the reasons why.
I get out and look for another post to comment on ( this I have done a couple of times)
To read comments on a post where people have a different opinion makes the whole look more authentic don't you agree?

Yeah, we are aware of this issue. We are sending out far too many emails for these "matches" and we are going to be trimming them back over the next few days.
Not to worry folks, we are completely aware and we are going to be fixing this. There has been several people that have offered feedback in respect to this.
