Veteran's Day Surprise Baby
Welcome to this world Allison!
Yesterday, I did something AMAZING: caught this little angel straight from heaven
Then today I made top 200 at Wealthy Affiliate. I was so surprised because it got too busy for a post or keeping on any task yesterday aside from running around like a chicken with my head chopped off.
I want to thank our community for likes/comments, and we all know that rank is more than a number. Thank you for all the caring support.
It was a tiny hunch in the small hours of the morning, I've never felt so minuscule and monumental at the same time.
A text around 3 am when I was feeling a little lonely...
Maybe having braxton hicks, not sure and how can you tell.
Who texts that sorta stuff?
Well, my new god-daughter's mother does.
Something told me I should just go and I did, just in time to wow oh my goodness deliver a baby! I've never done this for someone and have not done obstetrics since the nursing program delivery
(which is nothing like a home setting at all.)
The couple thought they were having a son "sometime after Thanksgiving"
Yeah, right, ha!
All a sudden holy moly wooosh what to I do?
Well they did have a son- Allison on Veteran's day!
And a loving memory of my dad, Al....
Allie for short, dubbed by my 5 year old!
Usually, I rewrite a poem called Patriot's Valiance each year to honor Veterans like my dad:
Today, I write a belated memorial because yesterday was a scramble blur frenzy
Patriot's Valiance
Alight your thoughts on a Veteran's heart
A belief as he fought, he must do his part
Fierce Fury burned as bloody wars raged
When it was his turn, his heart was brave
Arriving home war after War
His mind went numb but he fought even more
He wondered to himself what more can freedom take
His kids on the streets
He felt his heart break
Patriot's Valiance for America's sake
Alight your thoughts on a Veterans grief
Erased memories of war was relief
When he couldn't remember who his family was
Sadness, Fear, Anger
Misery of lost love
12 years of agony in Washington DC
Withered the branches of his family tree
Dear God, rest their souls in Grace
Patriot's Valiance
For America's sake
Alight your reverence on America's Dream
Where work and sacrifice means something
Agent Orange couldn't stop red white & blue
People still help neighbors as a Community Value
A Foundation rooted in service an earthquake can't shake
Desensitization and social engineering can't break
Patriot's Valiance for America's Sake
Alight your smile on a newborn's dream
Born in a time we can't make sense of things
Pandemic isolation driving us to extremes
Should not stop her from enjoying peace
Lord knows the struggle and when she wakes
Patriot's Valiance for America's sake
In loving memory of dad, SGT Albert Martin Nixon
I am still so awestruck and humbled.

Hi, Becca.
Paul Mindra here from Canada.
Beautiful on all accounts.
I was actually thinking about SGT Nixon yesterday based on a post from previous times from you.
One life passes and yet another comes to life almost incarnate.
Nice to hear from you.
Kindest regards,
Paul.
Hi Paul!
Thank you for liking it and warm thoughts. Semper Fi'nally story may be a legend someday. Well it always will be in my heart. So good to hear from you as well

Golly Lovely Becca, your poem's got me crying. It's hard to type when the tears are dripping down, and your poem has gone full circle through your father's life with the struggles's of a real man, and on to the new God baby, who has chosen to be born in this very strange and uncertain (for us) times. Surely the adults around her will not only protect but help her to NoT think like the crowd of peers that will be around her, but to excel in life and choose to have a moral compass, to guide her in life.
Congrats on your rank, and for baring your heart and sharing your heart in that updating of the poetry, the Beautiful Poem!
Thank you so very much Becca!
