I never heard it with a hard G. But I guess that's the correct way. But I like Giraffes haha.

I shall keep him and call him George

Cool song. First time I hear this band!

I heard Under the Bridge a looooong time ago, I recognized the voice. Red Hot Chili Peppers are awesome. But the start of the video is startling made me want to grab my scrubs and stethoscope neosporin then duct tape / vaseline just kidding !
Here is another song that reminds me of a patient I cared for little soul with intractable seizures the dad was awful mean to me one day and he played this song on the guitar in apology:
Far Behind https://g.co/kgs/GuAz9e

Like most of the lyrics + guitar solo !

That was amazing on an Ovation you should hear it live

You pronounce it like the peanut butter - Jiff

You're so cute with your smarty hat, I wonder if this will start a peanut butter warπŸ˜… I sure appreciate your input from the peanut gallery jklolπŸ˜„πŸ’ŸπŸ’βœŒ
I think I will just spell it in my video

Bring on the peanut butter war 😁😁 I like smooth for sandwiches and chunky when I make cookies

You could always pronounce it both ways - it's just like the word "niche" it's pronounced 2 ways

Yes I am always pondering if I say that right too lol. Yum crunchy PB cookies nomnomnom
I could just see a food fight at my house that would be a cool GIF

Yep chunky peanut butter cookies don't last long in our house - you can always step them up and add macadamia nuts as well - now that's a peanut butter cookie

I just had white chocolate chip macademia nut cookie how ironic get outa my head hat man just kiddin!!πŸ˜‚

Lol

I'm laughing so hard I can't answer the question. I really need to get out more, lol ! love ya girl.
PeaceπŸ’—

Jif is a bleach cleaner down here so anywhere I have worked we have always said GIF with a hard G like good and goat and God and go...

Where is that a cleaner? Interesting. I have heard of washing hair with peanut butter if gum is stuck in there...

Haha - In Australia - see attached

🀯 whoa! That totally blows my mind lol

I could be wrong Becca, but I choose the hard G,

as in the old school tony the tiger commercials...

Frosted flakes they're Grrrrrreat ! :0

On second thought I think it's the weak G as in gift,

not the strong G as in... Frosted Flakes they're Grrrreat !

I'm really not sure I just wanted to type in the tony the tiger quote
again :)

Rolling on the floor laughing my buns off now too funny!!!

I was taught it was pronounced with the soft G. So my answer is B... A solid B!

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

It is so fun how people are in 3 groups here the Js the Gs and geez I don't know

Hi, Nurse Becca.

GIF
/Ι‘if,jif/
noun
COMPUTING
1. a lossless format for image files that supports both animated and static images.
"a GIF image"
o a file in GIF format.
plural noun: GIFs

For the visually handicapped, it is pronounced as in the word GIFT.

"GIF, or Graphic Interchange Format, is a file extension for an often animated raster graphics file and is the second most common image format used on the World Wide Web after JPEG."

GIF uses the LZW compression algorithm and is owned by Unisys.

Source:
https://whatis.techtarget.com/fileformat/GIF-Bitmap-CompuServe

Based on what we know so far, and Since GIF stands for Graphic Interchange Format (and not Jraphic interchnage format, my vote would be for A. Use it the way that the G is used in the word GIFT.

Interesting question.

Paul from Southern Ontario.

Gee, I didn't know that

Hi, Anthony.

Yeah, I think it's true because it makes sense to me.

I just simply brought some info in off of the net. I thought it might be good reference or handy back-up for a training that Nurse Becca is preparing for us here at Wealthy Affiliate.

She's going to do some stuff on "The Power Of One Page."

'A One Sheet is a single paper graphic with skills or features geared toward the needs of your client. It is not a resume, CV or tri fold brochure. This One Sheet is jam packed with value for your prospect. It can be mailed, passed out as a flyer, emailed, or even used as a specific landing page for a funnel....' - Rebecca Nixon, RN, CLNC.

You can read her post from earlier today here: From what little I know about Nurse Becca, I think one of her takeaways is going to be in the areas of building trust.

Thank you for chiming in, Anthony. I am now following you.

I'll pop by, say hello and welcome you officially on your profile.

Kindest regards from Southern Ontario, Canada.

Paul.

Thanks Paul,

for the research and the support you have given to Becca

and all of us here at WA, may you continue to have much
success in your online quest ,

wishing you all the best,
Anthony

I have returned the follow, and appreciate the support,

unfortunately my time is very limited due to other commitments,

and so I have got to go, signing off until next time
Anthony

Dear Paul you are making me blush! I'm quite flattered you would give me an honorable mention. I am editing stuff for presentations now. The funniest thing happened. So I did a guest podcast then waiting for it to be released, I got an email from someone in my neighborhood who heard the podcast ( we are meeting tomorrow for a nurse luncheon. ) haha small world. You got the right ideas, too. Those One Sheets can be geared for a specific meeting like this.

Cheers, Anthony.
Same to you.

Paul.

I understand.

Paul.

Not trying to make you blush, Becca. Just stating some facts.
Looking forward to what you are going to offer. You are 'A natural.'

Remain Awesome.

Paul.

I mean that in a great way proudly blushing awwww shucks

Onward and upward, Becca.

You received some interesting results here. Well done.

Touch base again soon. I'm calling it a night. Different time zones.

Peace, love and respect always from Southern Ontario, canada.

Paul Mindra.

Since GIF means - graphics interchange format, I would say it would be a hard "G"...

Soft "G" - "Jif" is definitely peanut butter.

My dog is not a "Jolden Retriever."

My orange-colored fish is not a "Joldfish."

My favorite movie is not "Jaurdians of the Jalaxy."

Ah - but I JEST - with a "J"...

:-)))

Jim

But what about Geoffry? I just call him Jeff, not Geff...This is a good debate question! :)

Best wishes,
Karin 😁

Well...Karin...

I pronounce Geoffrey as "Jeffrey" - so, in this case, it would definitely be a soft "G" - which makes "Jeff" totally acceptable.

Google "Geoffrey pronunciation" and three YouTube links for pronunciation will pop up that support my premise.

I leave it to you to "Gauge" or "Guesstimate" if it is a good debate question. In other words, you be the "Judge."

The best to you!

;-)

Jim

Jeez Geez that was just gibberish
Don't worry Im being a goofball, I love your discussion on the topic, thank you!!
Gym ahem I mean Jim

And, I thought you were "Just" a "Jerry-atric" (Geriatric) nurse, Becca!

Me standing here with ton"G"ue in cheek - pressing it against my "G"ums...

:-)

Jim

Both, depending on which dictionary one is using. I pronounce it with a hard g, while others pronounce it with a soft g, as in Jif peanut butter.

Gorgeousness 😁 rvs do rock

Huh? Maybe good for a hearing person. As a Deaf person looking at the spelling, "GIF" A. G solid like in gift. If I were to pronounce I would say "gift" people will look at me funny eh? Is that how people say it?

Yes it may not be much different with hearing loss. But I wonder if this has stumped lip readers too. Just curious what most people would say. Also I wondered if I pronounce it right for recording... I did not want to get sued by peanut butter jangsters uhhh maybe it's not funny but I was trying to make you smile. Howdy doody! I am super Happy to hear from you.

That is funny. I know it sounds funny. GIF. sounds like gift to me. how can pronounce or say like "Jiff" peanut butter? with a G sound I dunno. Maybe better to pronounce the full word then say Giff-maybe look up Google and ask for audio pronunciation. It says use a hard G not soft G. like Gift

My kids are arguing about it now and Julie is camping or she would settle it. 😁I got the dearest privilege of teaching a person with deafness in my 'sorta sign' and rough fingerspellings, along with the screen write and we did good. They called me into hospital and I got to teach ICU and then called me in again to teach I saw a nurse I used to work with at Good Samaritan and he was CNA back then.

Anyway, Julie would have been proud of me and I always want to learn more I was wondering if maybe I should come up with another word entirely or just not call it that at all. Maybe Call him Jeff an animation hybrid that isn't pronounced either way ugh I maybe over thought this one lol!!!
I am leaning toward the hard G total thug approach. πŸ˜‚πŸ’Ÿ
