I have just completed level 5 of OEC Training and am now looking for further tutorials to assist me with moving forward, learning more and gaining skills... so my question is,

I’m on level 5 now, when I finish I intend to go through Jay’s training and Zed’s (smartketeer) training so that I know Wordpress and SEO inside out. I want to be fully prepared for the highly competitive MMO sector before starting Bootcamp.
Best wishes,
Steve.

Great advice, I think I have decided to go back through the OEC training as I feel I may have rushed it a bit. Then I am going to focus on Jays training, find out where I am lacking, write it down and search for some training. Love this community! I have a plan now :-)

Going back over the training you have completed is a great idea. You may pick up on things that escaped your attention first time around.

Bootcamp or one of jays replays or parhaps do a search for a particular area that you want more clarity on like seo or email marketing

Thank you for the suggestion, definitely checking out Jays training and going to jot down some ideas to search for :-)

I would follow up with this 12 months intensive training

Thank you Loes, will have a look now.

Hey Nicole,

Having no specific "favourite training", I DO have a favourite tool that helps me find whatever I need, whenever a need arises. Here's a tutorial discussing that tool: Hope you find this helpful.

Thank you will check it out!

Hi Nikki. That's a great question and it's good that you are taking your time to decide what to do next.
We jumped straight into the Bootcamp training but that had been our plan almost from the beginning and we wanted to get into promoting WA. If you are going to work with your niche website then our recommendation would be to scan over the OEC course again and try to identify any areas you may have struggled with and then use the search bar to find training and helpful posts on those subjects.
Colette and Philip

Great suggestion, I did wonder if going over it all a second time would be beneficial. I do feel as though I flew through some of the training so I might actually do this!

Will start jotting down some areas I need to learn more on as I go and do as you suggested with the searching :-)

Thank you both!

Try to answer the hard questions about what skills will provide the biggest return on investment for you. For me personally, I think that getting really good at content creation is one of the biggest leverage items, so I am focusing on how to write good content, how to locate good keywords, etc.

I'll focus on website design and other cosmetic issues later.

Based on your training through the first five levels though, what skills do you want to dive deeper on that you think will provide the greatest leverage for you personally. Start there first, and then expand outward.

Some great ideas there, thank you I will have a good think about how I would answer your questions and search some trainings!

I suggest using the Live training. There is a search bar there — search a term that you want to learn more about or concentrate on.
Using the classrooms is great learning, too. They are broken down by category and within the category you can choose video or tutorials.

Best of luck on your journey to success!

Thank you, will have a look. I did attend a live training early on but it was WAY over my head at that point. Perhaps now I will understand some more.

I get that! I tried too and realized I needed to go through the entire training before I watched certain videos :)

what do you feel are gaps in your knowledge that you want to fill.
is there anything in the course you want to dive deeper into.
by now you should have loads of content on your site and be very busy.
you could always go through the bootcamp to learn more about the different methods of paid traffic - not to promote wa, but to increase you level of knowledge in marketing.
congrats on completing the course, hopefully your site is now converting for you.
phil

Some great questions to ask myself there, thank you Phil!

I would say check out Jay's (Magistudio) training. Click Live Events on the left.

I had a look Joe but there are over 350 tutorials! So I have no idea where to even start... was hoping people could provide me with some specifics hehe

I have watched all of them that he has published since I joined and gone back through the list and watched another couple dozen that had titles of interest. The recent ones concerning SEO are useful. Good luck.

Thanks Joe, will go back through and check out what others have recommended and make a list to start working through :-)

It could be that you are using site content, after having published other content already. Site content will only monitor the content published through there. I have the same, 111 posts published but only 81 or so in site content.

I have only ever published through site content (I am new so don't know any other way) and it used to show the correct number but doesn't anymore and keeps getting lower each time I open it...

In that case it might be a technical glitch, for which you should ask site support. If you put it forward to them, you will usually have an answer within hours.

I actually thought that's what I had done lol but it seems as though because I ticked that it wasn't website related it has popped up as a question, will give it another go, thank you for commenting. I really appreciate your help.

Can anyone please explain or point me in the direction of some great training about how to find your rank in google? I have 14 posts indexed and I understand I won't make page

Hi!

Manual Version:
Step 1: Open Incognito tab on your browser
Step 2: Type your keyword you are trying to rank for with quotation marks like so: "this is my keyword I try to rank for"

Browse the pages until you find your keyword and your website.

That is the tedious way of doing it.
It isn't either 100% foolproof because of well.. its your location and you who is looking for it etc.
A complicated story of that Google will always try to find the results that you are looking for and not what your neighbour is looking for etc.

Otherwise there are tools out there that can help you, but they generally cost money. Jaaxy Pro is one of the cheaper tools out there that can do it. There are others too such as Semrush but they cost more.

As for just finding if your site is ranked or indexed at all, you can type site:yourfulldomainhere into google and you will get all the pages that Google has indexed for that site listed (also visible within Google Search Console).

Steven

Thank you that was a great explanation :)

Do you have google search console installed? You can see your average rankings and also individual pages.

I do have it but only very recently and need to do some more training around how it all works. Thank you for letting me know so I can check it out.

I use checkpagerank.net to check my rank in Google, is this what you are after?, Ann

Possibly! I have tried a couple that have been mentioned on trainings here but they were all only available after purchase. Was hoping there was some other way to check...

I am unable to be of any assistance to you Nicky. I wish you get the answer you are looking for. Would another theme work

Thanks Michael, I am considering trying a new theme...

I've got a free theme, too, Nicky. And, I just have to bite the bullet and "blue" each link - since I don't like the "red" default.

Just like "apache1" and "Gordon-D" talked about...

Jim

Thank you Jim, that's what I have decided to do as well. Only problem is I have over 20 article I need to go back through... oh well I best get started!

Just count yourself lucky that you don't have a couple hundred articles to go through!

:-)

Jim

This was exactly my first thought lol :)

Hi Nicky

If you can't see the A on your website click the toggle bar which is the second arrow to the right (refer Image) this will open up the bottom line.

Then Highlight the word and click the ctr U to underline then click A (Refer Image)which will give you the option to change colour of the word you are linking.

Blue is the best.

Once done highlight the word again and select the chain to add your link.

Andre

Thank you Andre, this is what I used!

Did it work?

You should be able to do this in the customisation section of your theme

There is no option unfortunately and the code I have tried to add is CSS is not working either...

Is your theme free or paid?

It's a free theme

Then quite possibly that MIGHT be why, Free themes are okay, but in WordPress and depending on the developer, Free comes with a lot of restrictions, compared to paid versions.

I loved free for years, then changed to paid and won't go back now : )

Ahh, I wasn't aware of this so thank you. Paying is not something I think is viable this early on for me but maybe once I start making some decent money :)

One of the good things with WordPress is this, the payment will be a one off, unless its part of a membership, in which case it MAY pay as it does with Thrive which I and a lot others here use and then you get a lot more stuff included

Paying means that you are investing in yourself and will pay off in the long run

Yes I do know what you mean, we are surviving on no income at the moment due to a work injury so unfortunately really not possible but I am definitely interested in spending some money to improve my business in the near future :)

Use 2 different items. Highlight the word or phrase and use ctr U to underline it, then highlight again and choose the colour blue from the "A" dropdown on the edit panel

I don't know why I didnt think of this haha thank you!

I notice that a lot of people have signed up through the referral system and that they are then linked to someone who can help them through their journey here at WA. What about

Check with Kyle and Carson.

Who receives the commission from your monthly or yearly payments?

Hi Nicky,
Having a mentor is a must we feel in order to be successful. Whilst there is indeed the Live Chat etc here at WA, we would be more than happy to answer any questions you have and give feedback when you need it. If you would like that just PM us through WA and we will do our best to guide you through.

Hope that helps

Jon and Debbie

Thank you Jon and Debbie, I really appreciate the offer!

Hi Nicky, your coaches will be your ambassadors, the Help Center and Live chat, plus a lot of members that that have the knowledge to assist you. The other coaches would be Jay and of course Kyle and Carson. I find it takes a bit of time to get an answer from Kyle probably due to his schedule.

Thanks Michael

Click on live help to the left here. Besides Kyle and Carson, who else is listed? That should be your mentor. Now, if the link you followed really wasn’t associated with someone, I’d guess Kyle would be your guy.

As always, you can reach out to the community at any time too.

Do you mean the live chat function? I have definitely been using that and I have received help from many on here including yourself. I just wondered if there was someone more like a coach that I could get to look over my site and tell me if I am doing the right things?

I have used the feedback tool but have found it VERY hard to earn credits.
