I really feel like screaming right now!

But I won't

Ever since Candy told me about the importance of a home page, I was determined to get one

But how?

Couldn't afford to pay for one at the moment. I wouldn't be able to justify the cost

I had two options

  • Use a template to do it
  • Create it myself

Although I was creative, the last time I checked, I was just a nurse and a teacher

Definitely not a website designer!

So totally out of my comfort zone and way beyond that!

Such a dilemma and a frustrating one as well

I tried the first option

Even though it was quite easy to do, I found that I still need to have an idea of how each part function, so that I can do it

As I created what was inside my head, I found that more ideas were coming and my limited knowledge was not allowing me to do it justice

It was frustrating x 10

Well, I acted the same way as I did when things become frustrating.

I made it a challenge

And we all know who loves a challenge :)

In the end, I created it from scratch using the Elementor plugin1

What a beauty!

I had to watch several Youtube videos

Reached out to several members for their advice and opinions

But I got it done

Still not happy with the 3 images, especially the one above the fold but that can be fixed later on today.

Yes, I was frustrated, but I never gave up on myself

Took several breaks and went back to it with a renewed determination to succeed.

It took 90 revisions :)

But I did it!

The important thing is that it will be very easy to create another homepage on another site

Never throw away your visions and dreams

Keep at it

It will take some time but it will definitely be worth it

Until next time,

Simone

Hey Simone,

What determination you have, but I had already guessed that about you. I am very happy about your success as well!

Can I ask you a question?

Why is it important to have a home page (I assume you mean like a static home page)?

I thought from the training that we were supposed to have our website so that the newest article (blog) would always go to the top of our home page.

I thought they said that was better for ranking with Google than a static home page.

I'm asking you because I trust you and I don't know if I'm wrong about this.

Do I need to go and change my whole website?

Many Thanks :)

Zach

I'm with you Zach, I guess this is different from our home page on our websites. Our websites should be dynamic and not static, but I must read Candy's post to find out more.

Thanks, Eugene!

By the way, if you know where the post form candy is could you please let me know?

Again many thanks :)

Zach

Hi
It is so lovely to connect with you again.
It has been a while :)

I choose to have a home page because of navigation purposes.

After Candy wrote about the importance of having a blueprint for your website, I did some research and found that she was on point.

It is not mandatory, it is my personal choice. I felt that navigation would enable a better user experience for my customers.

It is great to connect with you again as well! It sounds like you are doing great and I'm happy for you.

So if I'm understanding you right, you basically did it for navigation and not so much for ranking, right?

Also, if I'm happy with my navigation I can just leave my site like it is and it will rank just as well as if I had a static home page, correct or not?

Thanks again :)

Your friend Zach

Candy discussed the blueprint in this blog but told me about the motive behind the blueprint was the homepage, when I questioned her about it
Here's her blog I hope this helps :)

You are correct on all counts :)
You can leave your website just as it is

Thank you so much Simone.

You're always welcome :)

Thank you, Simone!

I'm going to check out Candy's post and the Authority Hacker website.

Can I ask you one more thing?

You said if I kept my site the same it would still rank the same, but if I do it like the Authority Hacker website and have a static home page will it still rank just as good or maybe even better?

Again I'm glad to hear from you and I'm sorry for all the questions and I really appreciate all your help!

Zach

Good morning Simone,

Well done for keeping to your plan and your perseverance, congratulations! 91 revisions, that's a lot of revisions! The great thing is that you kept moving forward!

It's interesting that you took breaks, asked questions and watched videos, you didn't give up!

It's amazing what we can achieve when we don't give up!

Have a great day.

Roy

Such an important lesson, Roy when we never give up
I'm so glad that I persevered
It is s great feeling
It is a pleasure hearing from you
Thank you for your ongoing support

I agree with you, Simone, giving up isn't an option, things may get tough sometimes, but we have to persevere. It's a great feeling when we persevere and get the results, as you mention.

It's always a pleasure to read your posts, Simone, have a great day.

Roy

Thank you Roy for your ever amazing ongoing support
Enjoy your brilliant day

Great job! Thank you for this encouragement. As an artist, I’m a visual person but not a web designer. The theme and design of my website was actually distracting me from writing content. I just began building a homepage with Elementor as well and also had to watch a lot of troubleshooting tutorials but finding it to be a great design tool.

You're an artist so I think the creativity within you will shine :)
Let me know how you get on
Thank you for your support

I hope so. Thank you. May all of our inner artists shine!

Thank you :)

Hi Simone,

Kudos to you on taking the challenge on your homepage! I believe you when you said it wasn't easy.

Some people I know outside of WA likely would've been "no way" or given up early on. I learn not to give up on things so easily- as I did when I was younger. Not anymore.

Sometimes, you have to do things you won't feel like doing. That's part of life, and especially building an online business.

If it benefits building your business, it's a win-win. Kudos again- thanks for sharing!

Regards,

Eric

This was certainly a challenge for me, Eric
I'm so happy that I stuck it out and got it done.
I'm really enjoying learning new things and accepting challenges
Thank you for your support.i appreciate it.
