DAD - THIS is so overdue and all for you! - Happy Fathers' Day!
Hey, where do I begin?
This tribute has been a long time coming.
Happy Father's Day Dad
You totally deserve it
Although you were a man of few words. It always used to annoy me how you never spoke much but always let your actions do the talking
How can that be? I've always asked myself.
Why are you always talking in proverbs instead of just talking to express yourself?
I guess that was the only way you could let me know and prepare me for what was to come.
Dad, I have now lived to see all your little proverb now come true
You must be laughing a lot up there
Every time you used to say, " A calm and soft word turneth away wrath," I used to think you were so silly
Why not confront the people involved instead?
Now I understand what it means.
When I used to complain about how hard my life was, and all you use to say was," It was not every day the rain would fall; one day the sun would shine again."
Or another favourite, "After a storm, there must be a calm," THIS particular one used to frustrate me so much!
So many times, dad, I resented you not doing anything but wished you could just stop talking
But now I realise your many pearls of wisdom
The wisdom that I have now passed unto my children
You were so peaceful, all, easy-going and approached life in a way that seemed stupid at the time
Now that I am older, I realise that I am getting to be a lot like you
I didn't appreciate you then
I didn't say thanks, and I didn't get the chance to do so
It is now lost 12 years since you are now gone, and I find myself treasuring every memory, every interaction that we ever had.
I will never forget the simple things like playing pack in dominoes, just the two of us until it was way past my bedtime on the weekends.
Or when you bought the soursop juice all because you knew that I didn't drink our regular carrot juice on Sundays
Those were little things, dad, but they matter now so much more to me.
Your calm presence and words of wisdom are always with me. It is now the main things that have kept me grounded all these years
Dad, I didn't even tell you how I felt, and I was hoping that you knew.
Still, I am saying it now
Happy Father's day, dad.
I appreciated you.
Until next time,
Simone

This is very touching. I can relate. My Dad passed in 2011, 10 years ago. It's hard to believe it's been that long and then sometimes it feels like forever ago!
Thanks for sharing this. I am on the lesson in WA where we share someone's post on our Facebook page. I hope you don't mind, but I'd love to share this one.
Thanks,
Connie

It is a pleasure hearing from you
The wisdom of your Father's words are now becoming clear to you. I know that you now understand better what he was saying. He is looking at you now with joy that you have begun the path to a wisdom he had years ago. He has blessed and is still blessing your life to this day. He is with you now and forever. Just stop and ask him and he will answer in some way.

What a heartfelt tribute to your DAD Simone!
Funny typical of us we don’t see the appreciation until you grasp the essence of life!
Learn from them the way we are now!
Your father must be proud of you my dear friend!
Very soulful wordings to take out on Father’s Day!

Awe...how sweet. Your dad reminds me of myself, speaking in proverbs, which I learnt along the way.
I like the fact that you now cherish those loving words and treasured moments with your dad.
You are indeed very blesses to have actually had a dad and made memories with him.
I don't even have remember what my dad looked like, but still have some treasured little moments.
Thanks for sharing those heart-fell moments you had with your dad Simone, they are indeed very precious.
Blessings.
Melanie

I have many that comes to mind, but I use the following quite often:
Don't place all your eggs in one basket.
I like that one too
