Whatever it is, it's out of my reach. I only know WP for now, and probably for later, too :)

There are some good answers, Mel gives the the closest, and I have checked it before but can't remember what it was, though its not WordPress, because as Trish says its too complicated for WordPress, but why not ask Kyle, though as long as it isn't giving problems, whats the issue : )

Thanks for the input Dave.
I could have asked Kyle in PM and I believe I would get the answer. I purposely asked this in 'question' column for 2 reasons (1) for people who have the expertise to share their opinion (2) for the benefit of others who do not know.

I learned from the answers given. And thanks to all who contributed.

Joe

To add further clarification to this for you Joe, one thing I have definatelty learned since being here, is that the hosting is excellent, through AWS as far as I know, and that it is far better than any other WordPress hosting I have used, which amounts to 4 or 5 i think in total over 9 years.

Every one has given me issues and I have worked in and around WP daily for t he best part of 9 years now

WA does not and even the best, or supposed best WP specific hosting, is dearer than that, that we have hear, with poor, by comparision support

Just as i say a further imput from me if it helps you further

Great to learn from those who knows better Dave. That's another great observation. Thank you for the additional input. I appreciate it and hopefully others will get new information too.

We can ask Kyle now, why do we need to guess, rather than ask directly?

The same as to my response to Dave.
Thanks.

Joe

My bet's are on it being Ruby on Rails.
This site is waaaay to complicated for WordPress.

Something new to me Trish.
I need to check that out. Thanks for the comment.

Joe

You can find out easily by going to 'whatwpthemeisthat' dot com and see if it tells you - it will tell you whether or not it is a Wordpress site. (It's not).

You are the expert Mel!
Thanks for info and the site.
That spurred my interest further to know what platform WA is built on?
Thank you in advance.

Joe

It's custom-coded, it's not on a framework of any kind that I can tell.

Thanks.
I convinced that it is specially designed website and they are leverage CDN for content delivery.

Hi Joe

Can you brace yourself for my answer please? :-) Seeing that you raised the question, I hope you are prepared for a "dislike" answer too, are you? I am going to say it with love, but I am going to say it straight. Is that okay? :-)

If there was a dislike button, I would have pressed it on this one. Sorry, but I am honest here. Why?

Kyle + Carson is working hard at keeping this a positive learning space for everybody. Many new people come in and are extremely uncertain of themselves, and the positivity in the group nurtures them to flourish. Think of all the support you have received Joe. How would YOU have felt as a newbie, if 10 or 15 people hit "dislike" on your very first post?
How would you have felt, if instead of 13 likes (currently) on this post, you had 40 dislikes on here?

There are a few more things to mention, but don't let us waste unnecessary time, since some of the points were already touched on by some of our lovely family members.

With questions like these I just always wonder whether they are genuine or whether it is a rank-boosting question?

Maybe we as members should concern ourselves with the things that are relevant to us and leave things like this for the owners whose website this is to decide how they want to run their business. We should never forget that we are just guests here.

I wouldn't want to have friends over at my house, who starts a poll under my other guests whether I should hang my painting on another wall or not, taking a vote whether my decor is liked or disliked. Would YOU tolerate a guest like that Joe? Would you feel that your guest is behaving in a disrespectful way? Maybe you would tolerate that guest that one time, but would you be happy to have him/her back?

Kyle and Carson is so kind and generous and allows / tolerate so much, we should always remember to show them the necessary respect too. They have made their money before they started WA, they don't need our money. I think everybody here would agree that we receive WAYYYY more from WA and from Kyle and Carson personally, than what our membership fee is. If they decide to refund us our money and close WA down, it would leave a BIG hole in our hearts and in this world.

I've been looking for the quote, but can't find it now. I think it was Mother Teresa who said that if we are "anti-something" - we only attract more of what we don't want. It is far better to be "pro-what we want". ;-)

I hope I have not hurt your feelings Joe! Please forgive me if I did!
Don't you agree that it is better to only have a like button Joe? ;-)

May you enjoy a lovely day Joe! Wishing you all of the very best!

Very well said...

Thank you for taking your time and sharing your thoughts here Sharlee. Really appreciate it.

I think there are a few things I need to straighten up here once and for all.

First of all, by no means I am promoting hatred or negativity among members here. If you see this question that way, I am very sorry. You can see my response from the start of this conversation, I always consistently behind my stance that I do not conform to the idea of having a 'Dislike' button.

I asked the question out of my curiosity of the response that I will get from members here about the subject matter. It is kind of a poll that I personally and honestly do not know for the answer for sure. And it's good to see, majority of US reject such an idea.

Did I know that answer upfront? Honestly, I don't!

Secondly, you were asking if this is a genuine question or something I did for boost-raking purpose which I find a bit silly to say (sorry). A post or a question alone will not boost anyone's ranking unless I posted a series of questions unnecessarily. If my ranking going up it was not because of this question. Last night, I remember I did helped people with questions and greeted new Premium members and contributed to comment posts.

Thirdly, I wish this question will be read by many especially newbies and new members who can see that majority, if not all members here in WA are not supporting any kind negativity, more so hatred among members.

Finally, I know we are here as guest. At the same time I do not convince that Kyle & Carson would see my question as something destructive, knowing both of them are more positive people than most of us here.

So, thank you very much for your insight and 'support'.

:(
Joe

LOL! Okay great, so you would have given this a "dislike" too. :-)
Apologies for the late response, we were on a trip and had less internet reception than anticipated.
Wishing you all the best Joe!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Hello Joe,
I am afraid my vote would go for no to a dislike button. If the comment is constructive whether it is positive or negative should not be a problem. While positive comments are a better outcome, if you are doing something wrong then you need to be put right and are going to get negative comments.

Derek

That's very positive from you Derek.
Appreciate your comment and vote.
I am with you on this one. :)

Thanks very much Joe. :)

Derek

I am not sure how I feel about this. Yes there has been several times where I didn't like or agree with someone on things they were bringing up. But I just walked away from it. I think having a dislike button could be discouraging. However, still posts thought and opinions tastefully seems like a great idea.

Thanks Melissa.
I believe you and I are on the same boat on this one.
:)

You are welcome

Hi Joe,

I think that it would cause too much confusion and breed much hostility within a peaceful, supportive community here at Wealthy Affiliate. It would certainly sabotage anything that remotely resembles what Wealthy Affiliates stands for. And definitely have an impact on its dynamics. Some could handle the feedback while others may not.

We have enough negativity within the work place outside of Wealthy Affiliate to deal with on a daily, monthly, or yearly basis. This is one of the reasons why I like Wealthy Affiliate - they have rules, lol.

As always I enjoy reading your posts and I do so like to like and leave a comment.

I like how your brain thinks, lol.

Way to go Joe.

Kindly,

Becky

Thanks a lot for your insight Becky. I can see you are a very positive person. I am with you on this.

:)
Joe

Hi Joe. I do like your question. I dont think we need a dislike button. I think i would only use it for Adult content.... And sometimes two or more members have a personal gripe and they air it publically by writing emotional blog posts to their followers.

I think they are the only 2 situations that i would use it in.

That said...... Facebook have explanded their range of emotion buttons. Perhaps we should do the same. Love, funny, sad, thanks, celebration of someones success post. I think these are all things that have merit in a community. I would support more emotion options coming through.

Thanks Glenys for taking time and sharing your thoughts.
I can see that majority of the community do not support this option to be available here in WA.

:)
Joe

That is an interesting thought. I suppose there could be one; however, it is most likely not necessary. If someone likes it, they can hit the like button. They can also comment about it. If they don't like it, they can still comment and express the "why" they don't prefer it.

Well said Robert.
Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts and comment.

:)
Joe

No problem. Thought-provoking.

I do not think so, unless there is going to be a way to say why the person dislikes it.

Facebook does not have a dislike button. However YouTube does. However I just noted a YouTube video having 1.8K likes and 41 dislikes. I personally like that particular video (not one I developed) and wonder why anyone would dislike it.

We do not need a dislike button. If someone feels strongly enough about it, they could always add a comment or send the person a PM.

Thanks for your comment and vote David.
:)

I totally hate dislike buttons on Youtube for example. People are so quick in responding to something with negativity. We should definitely not encourage those naysayers to do their easy job.

I sometimes get really disappointed and even frustrated when I see dislikes to a video on Youtube, that CLEARLY is a piece of awesome content, whether it be a music video or a motivational one. You can be of a different opinion of course, but should You really show Your opinion just by hitting "dislike"? So many people just don't get it sometimes, and a dislike doesn't say anything for real, only that a negative person hit DISLIKE.

If You really dislike something, You should take the time to make a comment and elaborate on Your thought. It takes time and the author of the disliked content gets a bit more out of it.

Cheers,
Kay

There is a difference between dislike and disagree.to dislke -say nothing and move on.To disagree-you might voice your opinion.

Thanks Kay for sharing your thoughts. Really appreciate it. :)

Hello Joe

A Dislike button, sounds a little negative. We should always be pushing that positive button.

People have their own beliefs and opinions, right or wrong, who is to say.

Let's not give some people the opportunity to dive down the stream of negativity. A dislike button may encourage this.

We have the facility at the moment to offer an opinion of our own, in response to another members comment, something constructive and respect another persons views and also tick the LIKE, so there is nothing Negative there!

If you dislike another persons views, a DISLIKE would be a cop out! Be accountable for for your view and take time to share your opinions and move forward together.

If you don't have time time to share your views, then perhaps they are just moans?

This platform is largely on the right side of positive and we should focus on pushing POSITIVE ATTITUDE.

I hope this is positive, still slightly jet lagged!

Cheers Joe

Wayne

No comment is a strong negative .like says you agree .a tick looks good -meaning present -read you..people have moods that affect their behaviour

Thank you for sharing your thoughts here Wayne.
Really appreciate your comments. I am with you that we, as a community, has the 'obligation' to promote positive attitude in the community.

Thanks again :)

Very well said Wayne!
I think I like your jet lagged answers even more! ;-) LOL!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Thank you Sharlee! No more jet lag anymore, no more excuses! Lol

Wayne

Hey Joe! Great input. The fact that you're even curious about a dislike button shows why your rank here on WA is so high!

Coming from someone with at least a bit of familiarity with the social networking industry, there has been a ton of debate for years about whether or not a dislike button could be useful. Facebook only recently gave more options, while Instagram, Twitter, etc. are still staying with a "like" option only.

My humble opinion is that, on a platform like Wealthy Affiliate, the opinion itself is so much more instructional than a simple "like/dislike". If someone disagrees with my ideas, or if someone feels that my approach is wrong, I'd much rather that they tell me so that I can learn rather than just dislike it. I feel that would only cause me to second guess all of the multiple reasons why a dislike was necessary, when the real reason may have been something completely different than I thought.

Just my opinion. Have a great day!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts Michael. I take it that you are not in favor of having the 'Dislike' button in WA.
Really appreciate it.
:)
Joe

It's not so much that I'm not in favor of more options than just a like button, but I'm not sure that a "dislike" button would mean the same thing to everyone.

Some people take a "thumbs down" as feedback. Some take it as a personal attack.

The goal should be to have a way so that, even if the feedback is critical or contrary to what the original poster is saying, it remains constructive in the meantime.

I agree with you on this one.

The reason I was asking the question was that I read a question this morning posted by one of our members and there was a comment which I felt more personal in nature in a strong voice, something I am not used to.

Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts.
Appreciate it.

If I am not mistaken,

It's great that we get lifetime affiliate referral cookies as Kyle states in the Bootcamp Getting Started.

Of course as Loes highlighted they won't be applicable if the person gets a new computer for instance. From my research on cookies a long while back, I assume it also stands true if they use another device or web browser to the one they were cookied on to sign up.

Another way that our affiliate referral cookie can be bypassed is if whilst the prospect does their research, visits several sites & clicks on an another site to sign up. This is the same for any affiliate link.

I have read this too. Most likely in Affiliate Boot camp

Hey...it is mentioned in one of the affiliate boot camp sessions in pbase 1

I've read that somewhere too Joe :)

Yup Chrissie,
Thanks. :)

That's what I think too Joe. I'm sure I've read somewhere that Kyle said that they were forever.

Thanks for the confirmation Guy. :)

Something else that I just learnt, love this site.

Yes Edwin.
I am not sure if you ever heard other affiliate program offer lifetime cookies.

Yes Joe. You are correct.

"We offer lifetime commissions and lifetime cookies, which is truly unheard of in the industry. If you refer someone to WA, they are your referral FOREVER." - Kyle

Find that statement here.

Thanks Kim for the link.
Appreciate it.

:)
Joe

Yep, Loes has got you covered on that one!
Cheers - Orion

Loes is correct as always. :)

Yes, as long as the person doesn't buy a new computer...

Thanks Loes. that makes sense. :)

Thanks Kim for the link.
Appreciate it.

Yes, as long as the person doesn't buy a new computer...

CraigUKTV write a blog about this a few months ago, hold on lemme see if I can find his post

Thanks Kaj.
You're right. I find videos are more engaging in social media like Facebook and it's more viral.
Thanks for the link too.

:)
Joe

I need to do this too!

Yeah, let's do it. :)
Training would be more fun with video. I need to find time to have the basic knowledge to create a video. Sounds not too difficult.

:)
Joe

Learn how to use Adobe Premiere Pro for your video editing, it's well worth it!

Good question... I am getting ready for that new experience...

All the best with the new exploration Thomas.

The video has a little potty humor in it.

But it is the perfect video structure for sales.

I'm going to watch the responses here Joe. Good question.

Thanks Steven for stopping by..:)

I'm one of your biggest fans, Joe :)

Choosing a video editing program really depends on how you want to progress with your video marketing. Do you want to be able to make movie quality videos, or concentrate more on screencast type videos (like Kyle does in the lessons)? A decent option to get started is Screencast-O-Matic. If you sign up for 3 years, it's only $36. That's just $1 a month, and it has pretty powerful editing options. You can do screencasts like Kyle does. You can record yourself with your webcam. Or you can do both at once, similar to what Jay does in his live video classes.

That's really helpful Nathan.
Thanks a lot. Will check it out. Seems the price is quite reasonable.

:)
Joe

It's a very reasonable price, and a great product for the price. It doesn't have all of the functionality of the higher priced options (like Adobe or Corel), but it certainly gets the job done. More than enough to get started with learning video marketing. Good luck!

Thanks Nathan.
That's helpful.

I use Camtasia Studio

Lets assume you already have a lot of blog posts here in WA, some of them have been indexed and ranked in Google.

Well, now I know I can change my username :-)

I didn't know we had that option. I may have to change mine too because where I live they know me as Cooki. Whereas back home they know me as Chrisie and another family name. We won't mention that ;-)

I am glad Loes could help you out. That's why I love WA. When you need a helping hand, there's always someone or everyone reaching out :-)

Hi Joe,

I wish I could help too. One day. Becky

:)

shouldn't be a problem but ask Site Support. They are great at answering questions like this,

:)

I think they redirect them, my username was eimhier and when I enter that I land on my profile page
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/eimhier

You get me answered Loes. Awesome!
Thanks a bunch.. :)

[Edit]
Yup, it's redirected. At least the profile get redirected to the current username.

My blogs I wrote in the beginning too

Ok, that solved my question.

Awesome!

:)

Even my latest blog is redirected, just checked
https ://http://my.wealthyaffiliate. com/eimhier/blog/inform-your-new-sign-ups-about-jaaxy

It does ..despite I have to figure out the right url ... :)
Thanks Loes..
I convinced ..

I don't think I have heard of it either. Wish I could help :(

:)

I wouldn't have a clue on this one I am sorry.

:)

I think that would be a question for Carson or Kyle or Site Support. You would need to give examples as well of where your concern is.

This blog for instance is at WA followed by the classroom followed by a title.
Whereas your WA profile is WA followed by your WA user name.
Whereas any training you develop does not seem to have your WA user name in it.

You see, whenever you create a blog post here in WA, your blog post url would something like >>>>https://wealthyaffiliate.com/yourusername/blog/blog-title

if you change your username to say username1,

that link will surely get 404 error unless there is auto redirection in WA system.

Appreciate your feedback.

:)
Joe

My earlier answer still applies. I think that you need to ask Carson or Kyle or Site Support. You would need to give them examples as well of where your concern is.

I would make an educated guess that they are re-directed. But, that is all it is - An educated guess.

Whereas if you ask Carson or Kyle or Site Support, they would give you the actual fact, which I assume that you need to know for an important reason.

Thanks David.
Since Loes has an answer with proof, that's good enough for me.

:)

Something I never thought of.
But looking in the address bar of this blog and I don't see any reason why you would get a 404.
There is nothing that suggest the blog is about you.

not sure though.

kenny

Thanks Kenny.

Not sure. But if you updated everything, I don't think it would be a problem since we are able to have ghost writers. It may be along the same principle.
Jerry

Thanks Jerry :)
