Rejected by Google.

I'm feeling a little "Rejected" today because Google rejected my application for an Adsense account.

Here is the contents of the email that I received;

So, I have spent the last 24 hours going over my website and revising the layout, structure, and content, to what I think Google meant in their rejection letter.

Unfortunately, the recommendations in the letter don't provide a lot of clear details for why my application was rejected. So, I have just been looking at my website more objectively and trying to determine what they meant, and what I can change to meet their guidelines.

I'm pleading with the WA community to assist me in critiquing my website and helping me to understand why Adsense would reject my application.

Please provide your feedback and comment on my website below;

http://www.networkceo.com

The modifications that I recently made (last 24 hours) are;

  • Removed ads from the Recent Articles listing page
  • Revamped Breadcrumb usage
  • Added Top Posts / Article Category listing to Recent Articles Page
  • Added Latest Post to Home Page and Next Big Idea Page
  • Moved Social Media Links to About Page
  • Move Affiliate Links (Ads) to just show on individual post pages

If I could get some Love from everyone, and have you visit my website, and tell me what else you think I need to change, I'd appreciate it.

BTW - Has anyone else ever been Rejected for an Adsense Account?

TIA!!

I haven't been rejected by Google but have been rejected by Twitter.

I have 2000# followers, keep getting messages to consider opening a business acct.

I also opened another Twitter acct...to see if I could be on Twitter. Got a good following going there. I would like to do an actual business acct.

I wrote support and asked why I was rejected. They stated I need to read Twitter advertising policy. I didn't see anything I was doing would violate me. I don't know how to get my followers over to the other acct.

It looks like google gave you instructions to fix your site...but Twitter says I can't ever have a site. Yet I still have people following me everyday......Go Figure.

WOW... I have over 4000 followers on Twitter and they have never sent me any negative feedback.

What did you do? :-0

As for Google Adsense, I have been told; unless I am getting ~1000 visitors a day, not to mess with Adsense because there is no money in it.

So it's on the back burner for now. Although, I did use their feedback to make changes to my website. I felt it can't hurt and might help my rankings... It's Googles advice, so I better heed it.

Unfortunately I have no experience with Adsense... so I don't know what they want... maybe someone else has a good advice!

But thanks for sharing this, it's always good to know how Google reacts...

Google is a mystery... I think they like being as vague as possible.

Yes, it looks like...

Interesting, I asked for more feedback and Google actually sent me an update.

Yes? And are they more specific now?

Yes, they provided more clarityabout a few of the vague issues they had marked as needed attention.

Ok, great! So, all we have to do is ask! :))

That's pretty much what I did... I outlined their original comments and asked for more details regarding my website. It seems my navigation was not well defined.

...your navigation was not well defined... meaning? What can you do now?

I had a static front page. My menu consisted of the various categories I had defined (see existing pages on my networkceo site). However, I did not have breadcrumbs defined and there was no way to go to my most recent articles.

I also removed all/any ads that were appearing on the index pages (recent articles/top posts/etc...)

I made these changes and will be resubmitting my site once I get more recent content on my site.

Ok, I will keep those things in mind... it's good to know, though...

I have no experience with Adsense so what I say may not be relevant.

Firstly Kyle and Carson say that a Privacy Policy Page is mandatory when dealing with Google. Maybe I am missing something but I could not find it.

I would feel a better user experience with more white space and more pics.

On Safari on iPhone6S the banner at the base of your home page is non responsive and does not fit.

I am sure these are not the main issues.

For me, I would keep working on it to get is approved.

Cheers, William.

Thanks for the good feedback...

I was also rejected but I didn't get any recommendations in the email I received. This is literally all I got:

"After reviewing your application, our specialists have found that it does not meet our program criteria. Therefore, we are unable to accept you into our program."

I wish there was a "Dislike" button...

I feel for you. Did you ever go back and resubmit your website to see if you could get it accepted?

No I didn't. If they can't provide me with a reason for the rejection, then I have no way of knowing what I'm supposed to fix in order to meet their requirements.

They will never give you a clear details. You have to figure out and struggle sometimes to find out what going on... They just have one generic letter to send to everyone... And nobody really understand their policy...Thanks for sharing your concern..

Pat

That was my fear...

I made some changes and I will wait a few more weeks, add more content, and try to get more user engagement as noted by @tyrellch, then I will resubmit for a 2nd time.

I'll let you know if I ever get an Adsense account approved. But, now I am beginning to rethink the idea and see if it is even worth it.

Thanks

Hi Doug

I am still learning so I wouldn't have proven feedback for you. Just one or two observations.

I see you started at WA a month ago, I presumed your site is about a month old, but it seems like you had one existing already that you just moved to WA given the dates on your articels.

I see you have a lot of posts on the site, however I see a lot of them have zero or one comment on them. Even though the dates of publishing are as far back as 2012. This may be the insinuation about the question of meaningful value to visitors. The visitor engagement gives the picture of relevence because people are finding it useful or engaging. Try use the feedback facility here to get people to comment on specific posts for you. Of course you have to offer feedback to earn the credits to that.

Have you also checked Google Analytics to see your traffic breakdown? That may give you an indication of whether your traffic is a factor in this decision.

Also have you checked your site with Webmaster tools to verify what Google sees?

All very good points... The site is not new, it's been up and running for almost 5 years. But yes, I let it set dormant for several years before brushing it off and bringing it back up to date.

Maybe google thinks the articles and posts are too old and don't give me credit for them due to timeliness of the articles.

As for comments, I have been going through the training here on WA to see what I can do to increase my visitors engagement. I may use the Feedback here on WA to get more comments. But this site is not hosted with WA at this time.

I have checked both Google Analytics and the webmaster tools. Although the traffic is down on the site from 3 years ago, it still gets a fair amount of traffic with no errors within the webmaster tools.

All good points... But now I am wondering if Google Adsense is even worth the bother!

Can't help , I'm new, but I sure would like to know why myself!

Meantime, godspeed on the answer and solution Doug.

Thanks for you word of encouragement...

If I ever resubmit the site and get it approved I will provide an update on what worked.
