I am used to dealing with a different interface where I could access the C-Panel for each website I had. Can I do the same in WA?

Hi Neil - there's no access to c-panel with WA. Perhaps Site Support can help you with what you're trying to do?

OK - thanks Laurie

I have 5 or 6 sites that I built prior to finding WA and have them hosted on an account I set up with HostGator. If I move them all to WA, do I have to pay any extra fees, or i

Hi Neil,

I know you can move them here to WA. Here is a post that was written by the co-founder, Carson, and I think it will help. Best wishes,
Cath

Thanks Cathy.

I'll check it out. I think it is falling into place now. Much appreciated.

all the best
Neil

I'm glad for you, Neil! :) And, you're welcome.

Cath

Hi Neil,
There are two things to understand here.

1) Host you site here without transferring the domain to WA. In this case you only need to change the DNS to WA. The registrar of that domain remain the same.

2) Transfer the site here - meaning you need to transfer the domain from the existing registrar to WA. This would cost you the annual subscription i.e. you need to pay for the domain's subscription fee for 1 year.

If your domain's subscription is about to expire, you may want to proceed. However, if you just get the subscription renewed, then you need to consider if you want to incur another cost for buying the domain's subscription from WA.

Hope that helps.

:)
Joe

Thank you, Joe,

I should leave these tough questions to the experts.

My story is similar I have domains at 1&1 and wanted to transfer them here. Transfer the DNS to point to WA. I did pay the year subscription $15.00 at WA..

Then I needed to change the DNS to point to WA.

I too was wondering this, as I was just in the process of moving my one domain from WA to Host Gator.

The reason being is that I plan on stepping away from WA for a while, mainly because I have been on a tight budget as of late. However, I know I will be returning here again with that domain in the future!

I believe when I set up that domain here, I had just paid around $13-15, which was for a whole year. So, I would think that bringing your existing domain on this platform would cost you that amount, since I had to pay a fee to move my domain from here to Host Gator.

Hope this helps!

I'm sorry to hear that Arie.

I've had the same problem years ago when I first left WA in 2014. I just got back and now I'm happy to be back.

Do what you have to do and take care of you first. Just don't wait as long as I did to get back.

Carl

Thank you for the advice, I will be sure to keep all of that in mind!

Out of curiosity, how long were you gone when you left WA?

I was disable from two car accidents.I started WA late 2012, and I left WA at the end of 2013.

Not sure if I had my 1 year in but leaving WA was a big mistake on my part. I should have gone yearly bu didn't plan it out properly.

So let say 2014 to 2018 almost four years. I was dealing with recovery then learning to do stuff again.

Then I forgot all about WA until some new business ventures showed me. I needed a website.

Then I remembered WA a great place to get that going.

Wow, that is certainly a long time to step away from a platform, but it is awesome to see that all this time later, you managed to come back better than ever!

Hi Neil,

It will cost you extra to have your domain names move to WA. I have the same situation right now with domains I purchased prior to coming back to WA.

I think it's $13.00 to $15.00 to have WA hosting your domains names.

I don't have other websites that need to be hosting here, so i'm not. sure, if there is a separate fee for sites.

I hope that will give you a idea what your up against.

Carl

Hi Carl,

I thought we got to host 25 WA sites and another 25 external sites as part of the Premium Membership. Maybe I was wrong. Anyway, I need to clarify this before I move them.

Yes, we do get 25 siterubix, Plus 25 domains .com.

When you became Premium you can build them at no extra charge. But, domain names purchased carry an extra charge.

But, you still need to purchase the domain name and hosting for $13.00.

Now lets said your website is the house. You will still need to buy property to put the house on.

Your domain name is the property every hosting company or most will charge you to put your house on the property.

I hope that makes sense.

Carl

OK - so I should be OK because I already own the domain names and have already built the websites in WordPress, so I just have to move them from HostGator to WA. And I have seen a reference on how to do that.

So, as I understand it, I don't have to pay anything extra as the actual hosting is covered by my premium membership and I already own the domain names.

Thanks for clarifying that.

I think I confused you on that part.

1. Domain names have to be purchased and hosted.

2. WA gives you 25 free siterubix and 25 website hosting.
That's not including domain name purchases.
(Websites are like houses and domain names are like land.
you need to buy the house in which you have 25 free houses thru your premium. now the land will cost to put the house on.

3. If you move your sites here to WA you will need to purchase land only.

4. Your HostGator site is being hosted by them on their land, they need to be hosted by WA. So, you will need to purchase land to move your domain names.

5. domain names and websites are different parts.

I hope I'm not confusing us both, lol

Sorry Carl, I am still not clear on this.

Take an example. Say I already own the domain name www.MySite.com and I have build a WordPress site already and it is up on the web and operating. I currrenly pay HostGator a hosting fee for this site.

So, if I own the domain name already (purchased from GoDaddy), there is no additional fee for that if I move the site to WA. And I thought that my Premium membership at WA gave me the ability to host up to 25 additional sites.

So my reading on this is that it costs me nothing to move the sites here. What am I doing wring here?

I hope this can explain it better than I can. I do apologize for not making it clear.

Here is some training on moving your domain.

Oh - don't apologise, Carl. I really appreciate your taking the time to try and sort this out for me. You are a credit to the team!!

I'll have a look at the reference, but it's getting late here is Sydney, so it will have to be in the morning.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Hope the LA smog is not too bad just now...

Thanks Neil,

I appreciate your patience. You are a true gentlemen, plus the smog is always bad in LA. No matter what time it is. I was just driving back into LA from the San Jose area.

So, my next lessons coming up in the Certification was to answer a couple of questions.

Lol, I tried.

Take care in Sydney, sounds like the most beautiful place to relax and enjoy yourself.
