Never Take Your WiFi Access For Granted.

So, on Wednesday 30TH December 2015, I accidentally knocked over a glass of water on my computer desk which unluckily poured on to my router's adaptor plug. It buzzed, followed by a loud "POP!" :-(

Just what I needed, since I had a rubbish end to Christmas and start to the New Year due to personal issues.

Unfortunately, that was the end of my WiFi for a whole 7 days because I had to wait for a new one from Amazon.

What This Meant For Me At Home:

CONS

  • The online business came to a halt.
  • No interaction within the WA community.
  • Limited 4G mobile internet on the smartphone.
  • No laptop to take to the local coffee shop (since I only own a desktop).
  • No access to programmes on my brand new smart TV (especially as I have no TV licence either).
  • Couldn't connect my new PS4 to the internet so I could watch Blu Ray or normal DVDs (since I have no DVD player).
  • I felt lost :-(

PROS

  • Time to reflect on life and write down some goals for 2016.
  • I cleaned out the apartment.
  • Free gaming time on my Wii and PS4.
  • Listened to a little music.
  • Enjoyed some family time.
  • Went on a few walks.

It felt like I was going out of my mind and stuck in the dark ages without internet access because I was itching to get back on track with building out my website, mingling with the community and of course, making the most of the smart TV ;)

There is a saying:

"You don't know what you have until it's gone!"

This is 100% true, and it applies to everything!

However, on the plus side I considered having no internet to be a blessing in disguise (no matter how lost it made me feel) because I re-connected with the real world and had a short break to re-charge the batteries before hammering the online biz.

But, if building an online business is that important to you. Learn to enjoy every moment of it, cherish it, and be prepared because it only takes one small incident to temporarily wipe out your internet access.

Never take anything for granted in life!

On that note, I'm off to buy a 2nd router adaptor and a new laptop! LOL.

It feels sooooooo good to be back online, and I appreciate the internet even more!

I'm sure you can relate to this article....

To Your Success.

Neil

Welcome back to the light! :)

Ha Ha! Thanks, Evelyn :-)

aw! Hope that never happens. I would feel completely lost haha. Shows how we rely too much on technology sometimes but for us, as internet marketers it's our most important tool so...

It will happen to everyone at some point lol. You do feel lost, but gives you the opportunity to catch up on offline tasks :) Technology sure has taken over our world!

I do agree, since without the internet we have no business :(

That's a big bummer.

It sure is, man!

Oh oh that comment was a few days ago. Did you lose it again?

Nah.... The internet's a bit slow! :P LOL

I feel you! Reminds me of this one time this past summer when the power in my area went out due to a storm, we were lost! But at least you had power, just no internet access.

That sucks! Especially when you have no control over it and dunno when you're gonna be back online. Yeah, that is true! Lol.

Oh, yes our service is not that great here especially on weekends, so we take a break some times. Good to here fro you

I think it's good to have a break once in a while to keep us sane lol. Thanks. You too, George :)

Sounds like something that could also have happened with me. Luckily I have my iPad mini.
Although there is no internet connection so I am always able to work with my context.
I still some days completely free of technology. It is not healthy for my work online.
But I have learned that it is necessary to drop some of the character that I have created.
So a few days break is only a gift if you ask me

Yeah, it's always great to have something to fall back on incase of emergencies. There are always places with free WiFi you can use :)

It's not healthy for your online biz to be without the internet, but a few days offline can help clear your head and catch up with long overdue jobs around the home lol.

On the other hand, it is also easy for me to say I just got a new provider and my internet has never been faster, so it'll probably be a while before I get sorted house

Just goes to show how we are relying on technology eh another member was without internet over the holiday's to glad it is all up and running once more

The non-internet days were much more simple lol. But yeah, technology plays a big part in our life these days. Thanks :)

sometimes its good to technology free my chance will be July when I go to Tiree limited service and some parts nothing at all does me good slightly over the 6mth period however gives me a clarity of mind and a chance to reflect on my progress

That's great :-) At least you now have 6 months to keep building up your online biz further before you take a break.

yes that is true and I am giving myself a good shake up whilst I am at it

Not good to be back in dark ages. Never take anything or anyone for granted, Kemosabe.

Yep, it's not great. It can also be a wake up call too!

I hear ya bro! Sounds like you got a new laptop too! Hmmm.

Still looking and deciding, lol.

I might try that too! Honey, the wifi router is fried, and need a new laptop too! I'm afraid that wouldn't work here!

Have fun shopping! Maybe you can become an affiliate of the company you purchase it from before your purchase it.

Jeff

Yeah, you could try it! LOL. The benefits of living alone is that you can do what you want with no questions asked or permission to get from anyone.

Cheers, and good point!

Cheers to you. Let us know how you do on the laptop search.

Yeah will do. Can't find an affordable one I like yet lol

Anything in our lives can change in the blink of an eye - and it can happen to anyone. We just have to keep moving forward.

I agree! We should make the most of what we have :-)
