Keywords, keywords, keywords! A personal rant.
Then I started looking at other keyword tools, including Market Samurai and got completely different results again. When I Google searched Keyword tools, there were a host of others, some free, some very expensive. Bottom line...I just can't figure out where to go and what to believe.
If we're basing our keywords (and ultimately the success of our site) on keywords that have high search rates and low competition, and the results of our research give us vastly contradictory results, I don't know what the next step should be.
I know many of you have very successful sites and presumably have mastered this process so if any of you can shed light on my dilemma I'd love to hear from you. I think I'm right in assuming this is a process and not an black and white situation, but I'd like to get some direction from others who have gone through this and come out the other side of it successfully. Thanks to all.

the more you know the less you know because you know more of what you dont already know..........dont you know!!
It's worth remembering that most keyword tools are an amalgamation of results from various sources, not just Google. This recent post on Jaaxy by Carson may help: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/carson/blog/jaaxy-com-keyword-data-explained
Neal, it is indeed a problem. I look forward to some well researched solutions. Thanks for bringing it up.

Keywords are one thing, and keyword competition is another. You just aren't going to be able to drive traffic for certain words or phrases, too much competition, but if you tweak it here or there, adding just one little word in front of it, you just might catch some more traffic. I've found that playing around with Google Adwords will help show you what's popular and low competition.
For example:
Boxing Gloves (too much competition)
Black Boxing Gloves (less competition)
Seems simple enough but use the concept and you should start seeing better results.
