I am using the UU2014 theme and every time you click on a link it will take you to my post. However, it shows the category title above. To get rid of that you have to click on
I have already had to change my theme once and I really scared to change it again. I have a lot on there. Is there a way I can test a theme to see how my content transfers?

Try using a different theme! I had the same problem and then I got a new theme and the category title was gone! Good luck :)

So I wanted to change my blog roll to 1 post and take the "read more" out of my post so when you went to that page directly you view the whole post.
I went through all m
I have the exact same problem and even created a blog to try and solve it. But my comments are still nowhere to be found. Have you managed to fix this on your end? Thanks!

How did you take out the 'read more'?
What exactly did you do to take out the 'read more'?
Did you change the source code for the WP theme you are using? (In WordPress Dashboard, select Appearance, then select Editor, than you updated one or more of those source files).
If you did this, then you need to revert back to what you had before. Changing source like this can be 'interesting', in that a single change can affect a lot more that you think. I saw recently that someone had a ";" in their code where it could have been ":". The code wouldn't do what he wanted, until it was corrected... You may have something similar.
If you have a 'before change' and 'after change' and look at them carefully you may see what is causing the issue.
I went into the text side and just took out the coding for the read more. I have not changed the source code for the WP theme that I know of just the read more. I did go back into the post and reinserted the read more and now my comments will show up again. I will have to change all my posts back with the read more.
The only problem is that when I go through my pages to get to my posts on my site my post doesn't show up as a full page, I have to click on the read more.......I only wanted it to do that on my blog roll.
Was this ever working the way you wanted?
If this was working correctly a few days ago, it may suggest that when working on the 'read more', you may have inadvertently did more:
In the WP theme I am using if I 'play with' the content.php file near the middle: (I added a, b, etc for reference)
a. <?php the_excerpt(); ?>
b. <!-- .entry-summary -->
c. <?php else : ?>
d.
e. <?php the_content( __( 'Continue reading ', 'themonic' ) ); ?>
I think if I deleted line c, my website would no longer behave in the way I expect.
If I deleted line c and added <?php else ; ?> in its place, it would ignore the line, because it is expecting ":" not ";".
This would then lead to unexpected behavior.
I do have one post that I never put the read more in and it works just fine.....I really don't know if I will find what is going on. I did revert everything back to what it was but I am not happy with that lay out.....I am really not sure that I can figure out what happened with the coding might be easier to switch to a new theme :(
You could build a free test website within the siterubix domain, and test out different themes there. Then once you are happy, apply the theme that your testing found to be the most suitable to your real website.
Yes I have been going through different themes to see which has been more compatible to my content and the looks I want.
Is it fairly easy to switch themes without too much problems?
It usually is pretty easy. If you changed any theme source you have to re-apply those changes to the new theme.
For instance, some people change the theme "header.php" file to include code for google analytics. So if you changed stuff like that, you need to remember to apply to new theme.
In any case, don't delete your current theme (until you are happy to delete it).
You download another theme and make that one 'active'. WP Dashboard, Appearance, Theme, add new, it then gets a partial list of available themes from WP. There are loads of themes there.
I never have a 'read more' in my posts or pages. I let the theme take care of that for me underneath the hood.
Thank you :) Yes I am discovering my theme does not handle the read more well and I don't care for it.
I have found a theme I would like to try so I think I will go for it. After I do a back up of course lol
Thanks for your help!
Put in a support ticket to get your site reverted back to the last backup they have for you.
Then go to settings > reading choose static page then choose the page you want to open on. Down below that you can click on summary or full page.
Can I just revert my posts back to before I changed them? The only reason I took the more read was because if I went through my links the post still showed up like it was on the blog roll. I wanted only blog roll on the home page
Did you go to Settings - Reading and make sure full text was checked, then saved.

Yes I just did and did not make a difference. The only time there is this problem is when I go on my site and navigate through the links. When I am in my backend and preview post this does not happen.

I have inserted the read more in my posts so that I have portions of the post for my blog roll. However, now if you click on my actually link through the menu it will go to my pos
Change your home page to "Your latest post" where you can see all new posts. You don't need to insert read more. It will display 'continued' or read more automatically. If you click from that page on any post it will go to full post automatically. In menu, link your post's URL which you can find from top of the editor of every page/post.
My home page is set to "Your latest post". I was have problems with full posts showing up instead of portions with the "continued" the only way it has been working is if I insert the "read more" into my post but then of course I have the other problem.
Ya I have thought of that but scared to change it in case it messes things up....I have a limited amount of time so chaos would me my site down for a bit lol I think maybe I will just set my homepage to handle just one post so that my most recent one will be there til a new one comes out. This way I can take the read more tag out and solve my problem :) Thanks for your help
