My site is going dormant - UPDATE
So, I thought I'd be able to figure this out myself, without going to Premium yet (because I can't really afford it) but I guess that was an unrealistic goal. I can't figure this out on my own, and just ended up even more frustrated than I was when I made it to Lesson 10. So my account and website are going dormant - either until I can work the cost out with my budget, or indefinitely. I don't know.
UPDATE: I did not expect the level of advice and support that I got in response to this. I'm more accustomed to the "tough luck" attitude, so I'm extremely grateful to those who reached out to me. I decided that I'm going to continue and try and build up my site despite the setbacks. Thank you for your time and generosity.

Don't give up. Try doing the first level of the Bootcamp Course. It's also available for free and will help to keep you motivated. I took the plunge to go premium and I don't regret it. Jim
Thank you. I thought it only applied to people who hadn't found their niche yet, but I'll look into it all the same.
You can still work as a free member and continue to add content to your site until you can afford to go premium
I put $20pweek into a separate account as it costs around $72 for me each month
Also, you could add your WA referral link to your site or may a banner in the sidebar and if e people join as premiums you will have your membership fee

Hi Naomi, you can stay at the starter level for as long as you want, premium does open the doors to all WA has to offer, but if you can not afford it at the present time, just bide your time, because when we upgrade we can not go back to the starter membership.
From what you have said you have a niche sorted, I would suggest that you look at the affiliate boot camp lessons, the two courses are similar but there are some more details in the first phase of the boot camp, which can be applied to a niche site, just a thought.
Or even give it a go, promoting WA is one of the best ways to create those first sales. The key is to learn the fundamentals and then scale things from there.
Keep adding content to your site, keep building while you work things out.

Even if you don't upgrade go for it, the thing is to build a solid foundation once we learn the fundamentals we can scale them.
I agree, and it depends on the individual as to how much teaching is needed
