Wel I knew I'd been doing this online stuff for a while but I didn't realize I'd been doing it for this long. I just found an article on Ezine Articles I wrote 10 years ago when I was a 51 years young ( I remeber I thought I was ancient back then). It made me realize how long I've been doing it wrong and I obviously didn't take my own advice. hahaha! Sure brought back some memories!

As I look at it after doing some training here, I see the content isn't bad but it still needs work, but the layout is awful, No Topic headings well there are some topic headings they are just hard to find, I think I forgot we have Bold text and Headings Format, at least I think we had them back then. Haha! Anyway here it is...It gave me a bit of a laugh though.

What Do You Need to Build a Successful Home Business?

What do you need to do to build a successful home business? Is it targeted traffic? Is it a good product? It could be a professional looking website. Or maybe even great content... The Truth is You Need All Of The Above And Two More Key Ingredients.

First the obvious, you will need a good product or service that your future clients need, you also will need targeted traffic, a professional looking website and great content. I had been on the net quite a while before I realized the one thing I didn't see many people talking about are the two key ingredients that make all business successful whether offline or online.

So What Are They?
In my opinion, the two most important things you need to vastly improve your chances of having a successful business, are honesty and ongoing support for your clients. Why are they are so important.

Lets look at honesty first. Say you you need an electrician or a plumber, they come out fix your problem and charge you an arm an a leg. You find out a week later they have charged you double. "Yep they conned you." What are you going to do about it, well I know what I would do. I would go out and tell everyman and his dog that they are scammers.

It works the same on the net if you aren't honest, eventually it will get around and the mud will stick. Yeah you can change your name throw a fake picture on and start all over again. Same scam different name, and you will probably make some nice money. The only thing the scammer doesn't realize is we are creatures of habit and the next scam will probably be similar to the last.

Don't they get it, we are not stupid. The end result the scammer has a dozen short term projects, they make them some cash. You and I will have a long lasting successful business with a good reputation, and in the long run will probably have more customers, and make more money. It's not brain surgery!

Now for ongoing support and customer service it fits pretty much side by side with honesty. This time you are going to buy a new TV Scenario 1. You go to the store you get assistance, even the though the person giving you the assistance would rather be out the back having a smoke rather than helping you. They sell you the TV you get it home a week later it breaks down. You go back to the store and guess what they are no longer there. You have paid out all that money for nothing. Sound familiar?

OK Scenario 2. You go down town get to the TV store find a sales assistant, who willingly tells you all the features of the TV, you're buying shows you how to use it with a smile, and as you are handing over the cash or the credit card, tells you " if you have any problems give me a call and I'll send someone out to fix it."

Which of the two would you prefer? Again it's not brain surgery. Overall, be honest, reliable treat your customers with respect, create a good reputation for yourself and your business..Give good customer service and give ongoing support if needed.

That is very true that building good and honest transaction between you and your clients will result to longtime and maybe lifetime productive business relationship with your customers. Thanks for the share.

This is so true about how to build a successful home business. Most people get into them because they feel good about it and expect others to have same interests. But it is not so. When building a home business, we have to look out for what is in demand or trending at the moment. We're are not big like Walmart or Target. So we have to zone in on what is a good product that is high on traffic and bank on that professionally. This old article hasn't lost its edge. Thanks for posting it.

Such good information! Yes, caring for our readers and bringing them value is essential!

Thank you Diane. I couldn't believe that article was still there after 20 years and yes our customers are our most important asset:)

Hello Nathyandi,

Great examples! I can certainly relate to when I bought my last car. The salesperson didn't care about my experience nor was he knowledgeable about the features of the vehicle.

Sometimes we get too focused on the money and forget that the customer is what brings in the money.

As a blogger/affiliate marketer, we have to remember that helping people is our top priority. The money that comes along with it is the fruits of our labor.

Never recommend a product only to earn a commission. Only recommend a product if you are comfortable with recommending it to your friends and family.

Cheers,
Eric

Thank you, I totally agree, I have gone I to some retail shops and wondered how some keep their job. I also had a car salesman episode with my ex husband. We went to buy a car I was only settling for an automatic.. the salesman treated me like a woman and would only speak to my ex and was totally ignoring me. He told him you do know there only about 6 small auto cars in the town, I spoke up and said that's ok I only want 1..hia look was priceless😂😂😂

That is totally disrespectful. I used to sell cars myself and CSI was the top priority. If you purchased a car from the guy, I hope you gave him a less than satisfactory survey haha.

He must not be a very good salesperson since most decision-makers are the wife. xD

I would never buy a car without my wife's approval. So if the salesperson ignores or is rude to my wife, it's all over.

Yes he was and so were the other car yards we went to but that was 30 years ago I'm hoping things have changed since then. Haha
