Hi everyone. I have been going nuts researching for the best way and also the most profitable way to create tutorials that have 3d models embedded.

I want to teach peopl

I'll take this from a fellow-artist's perspective.
To answer your direct question, no I haven't done this. But I have created plenty of (mostly private) tutorials for art groups, using screencasts.

The screenscast is then saved as a video tutorial. In your 3D segment, you could talk about the value of 3D apps in training; suggest one or two favorites, then open your 3D app and show them how you use it, by drawing right there in the app. Again, your actions are caught in the screencast and your voice is too, unless you make it screen only.

I use Camtasia, which is available for both Windows and Mac. (I use it on my Mac).

You can edit this file until the cows come home. You can also cut out the audio, and separately record a voice over, then edit that. There's a lot of flexibility.

Additionally, via the editing, you can drop in 2D images, for example. I haven't tried to drop in video; but it might be possible (something to check out).

It's a lot of fun and certainly could accomplish what you want to do with the training. In fact, you could offer a separate screencast training on how to use your favorite 3D graphics program.

Since the screencast can be saved in several formats, this is something you can load to either your site or youtube or to whatever system you're using for tutorials.

Hope that helps!
