I've been running some Facebook ads to a website of mine that uses Google Adsense for monetization. I'm really hoping to crack this 'arbitrage' thing, where I can pay for ads to my site for a cheaper price than what I make with advertising.

For example, pay $1 for ads, receive $2 in advertising commissions.

So far, it's not working, but this is month #1.

Usually I blog about advice, inspiration, etc but today I just wanted to let you guys know what I was working on, and how progress was going. It'll be fun to look back on this blog in a year or two and see where I started.

Total Profit/Loss: - 97.6% (yikes!)

Perhaps you could someday write a training on advertising arbitrage.

If I make money with it, that's the plan!

I've tried this also without much success. Thanks for the update, Nathaniell. Please keep us posted!

Thanks for sharing. I'm still new so I've got two questions. What is the "arbitrage" thing? And, also, how does a Facebook ad and how does Google absense relate to that for monetization? Does that mean that you advertise your own product on FB, but Google handles the payment for you the same way that Paypal does? Thanks so much!

Arbitrage is just buy low, sell high. So I buy traffic for cheap, then (hopefully) get paid more by advertisers. Buy for $1, sell for $2.

I'm just using Google Adsense right now and not really selling anything of my own or affiliate products.

Thanks for that. So you're running Facebook ads, but having them go to Google Adsense? This is the part I'm not understanding. Thanks

My understanding is people on facebook see his ad (that he's paid for) and click on it and go to his page which has google ads on it, and if people click on those ads he gets money for them

AHHHHHH! Thanks!

I have spent a bit and made nothing yet but I am only just finishing my first boot camp. I will reevaluate in January.

Thanks for that information and hopefully you will keep us informed!
Sheila

Keep working hard and everything will piece itself together.

Josh

Facebook is tricky... You will end up making more with a $5 a day budget than a $10 a day budget. I spent $150 and profited a little over $1200 for that single ad.. Sometimes you needto get creatice with the targeting.. I also have higher commision for what i sell..

I may do some affiliate promotions later with FB ads, but for now I want to stick with Adsense to see if I can make it work.

But congrats on making some great money with FB ads man! You are right, that perhaps my audience is to broad right now.

Agreed, I have noticed when I tweak the settings with geo-targeting, Age and other things, it does make a huge difference.

Congrats, perhaps you could do a training on it?
Thanks.

You got it. You have to do laser targeting.

Hi Nat thanks for the FB ad update, I'm planning on running FB ads in the next month. Would love to hear more updates on your success soon.

Do Facebook ads work well for affiliate offers? I know that's not what you are doing here, but I'm just curious about how it compares to Bing Ads or Adwords.

I use facebook and bing for affiliate ads and have a little success with both. Very little, but then I am cheap and don't spend a lot of money yet. Jim

With any luck, you can refine those ads to target just the people that are buying. This should happen as you get more information from the campaigns that you're running.
