ANY Website Can Make Money If You Follow Through
I've got 49 drafts queued up in my Wealthy Affiliate blogs, and I want to clear everything out to start fresh for 2021, so my next couple of blog posts will probably be a mix of topics.
nOt All nIcHes CaN mAke MOneY!
One of my favorite memes from the past is the Sponge Bob meme where he says something sarcastically. The internet is very creative, and I think it's funny how writing letters in lower and upper case really captures the feeling of sarcastic language.
Anyway, that's how I picture people look like when they say things like not all niches can make money.
I constantly run into weird websites which I never would have thought of, but are online, getting traffic, and probably making money.
One time I saw a website which was just dedicated to the color Tiffany Blue. The person just found all kinds of products which were Tiffany blue and how those would fit into home decor. Makes sense though. How many "famous" colors are there?
I was thinking about this again a couple weeks ago when I ran into the site soundproofliving.com. I don't own this site, and am not promoting it. I just think it's fascinating that someone built a site specifically about living in a quiet environment.
Makes sense, right? What if you have a weird work schedule and work swing shifts? What if you're a musician living in an apartment? A light sleeper? Lots of potential for "quiet" products.
If you have an idea for a website you think could be profitable, go for it. Many times other people looking in from the outside can't see your vision because they haven't lived your life. An idea someone else shoots down could be the next big thing, as long as you can see that vision and follow through by taking action on it.
It Doesn't Take Much To Get In The Top 20%
Many times building an online business can feel like an uphill battle. Everyone seems smarter. Everyone seems more productive. How can you ever become an "expert"?!
As I get better at what we learn here in Wealthy Affiliate, I find myself on lists of "experts" from time to time, whether that be an expert roundup or in the top super affiliates of something. It's suprising to me how little it takes to be listed in some of these things.
For example, one time I won a $500 bonus for being in the top 10 sellers for a specific affiliate product. Awesome, right? The weird part was that I had only sold 2 or 3 of their products.
So what that told me was that the top seller probably sold 80% of products, and the rest of us plebs were making just a couple sales. Imagine being in the top 10 with just 2 products sold (I don't remember the exact numbers, but that's pretty much what happened).
This hapepend to me again recently, where I found an app I wanted to promote so I could get a prize they were offering.
So what that tells me is that out of the ENTIRE WORLD promoting this app, with just 20 referrals, I'm already in the top 100.
I look at the situation like this: Imagine how much you can do for companies by being a good affiliate. I'm just half-assing this promotion because I'm not earning any money from it. Imagine if I really wanted to help this company out and earn some money and started sending them 20 referrals a day. I could double, triple, or 10x their download numbers.
There are TONS of companies out there who want to work with awesome affiliates. How to effectively promote affiliate products is exactly what you're learning here in Wealthy Affiliate, and it's going to be a powerful skill you can use in the future to make money online in a wide variety of ways.
Once you get good at what you do, then you have more negotiating power, and more choices as well.
If you're reading this, you are doing a great job investing your time learning a profitable skill. Keep up the good work and have a great week!
