3 "Not So Obvious" Secrets To Making Money With Reviews

Reviews are an easy way to rank and earn money with your website...sometimes. If you can get on page 1 position 1 for "my product review", you are pretty much guaranteed to earn some income from that page.

The trouble is, this is well-known information, so everyone's doing it. You just aren't going to rank for "Squatty Potty Review" unless you are lucky, or have a serious advantage compared to your competitors.

So why even write them?

Well, sometimes they do rank, so it's worth trying. Also, remember that you can still write on other low competition phrases, then link to your review! Even though ranking for "Arlo Review" is going to be very, very tough, it's probably pretty easy to rank for "Wireless Home Security Systems Without Monthly Subscription Fees".

Then you just link to from Low Competition ==> Tough Competition pages.

All that being said, there are still three cool ways to tweak the traditional review to make it easier to rank for. These style of reviews, in my experience, get very, very low traffic numbers because they are so specific. However, they also convert, very, very well for the same reason.

There may only be two people per month that search for your topic, but if 100% of them convert, that's still two sales in your pocket! Here are the tactics:

Longtail Keyword Reviews

Look for products with a lot of specifics about them. Don't just copy the Amazon listing, because you'll get outranked by Amazon most of the time. I mean, don't make your title "Product X Model 123 With Red Border Custom Edition Review".

Think about what identifies this product compared to similar ones. Think about why someone would actually type those words into Google and need information.

For example: Smoke Hollow 24" Pellet Grill and Smoker With Digital LED Controls Review

This is a grill AND a smoker, so already people want to know what's the grilling part and what's the smoking part. Are the both good? Is it a good grill but not a good smoker?

It's a pellet grill. How do pellet grills and smokers compare to electric? Charcoal? Gas?

It has LED controls too. Are these good? Do they break? Does it have an app?

These are all important questions people will ask, and they are all good reasons to visit your review. There's a good chance you'll also rank for similar keywords like "pellet grill smoker combo reviews" or "LED control smoker grill reviews".

Versus (Compare Products)

Another tactic is to compare similar products. The most annoying thing is when products have minor updates, so it's hard to tell if you really need to spend money on the new one. For example, the Logitech C920 is one of the most popular web cams on Amazon. But the C930 has way less purchase!

Why? Is it worse? Is it not worth the price? This is definitely worth an article!

For Example: Logitech C920 VS C930 Review - Should You Upgrade?

Just don't get caught up in comparing things that don't need to be compared. Comparing things like color or "special edition" stuff that isn't going to sell a whole lot of items might be an interesting read, but won't convince people to buy.

Make sure your comparison makes sense and is helpful!

Write About The People Buying

My favorite by far is to write articles about a low competition topic where I can include my affiliate link within the context of the article. Think about WHO needs this product, and write about that person.

For example, your product is the iPhone X. Who needs to buy an iPhone X? Someone who wants to use the facial scan feature, or maybe someone that wants more screen real estate.

Example Topic: 3 Smartphones Phones With Facial Recognition

Example Topic: 10 Smartphones With The Biggest Screens

You can do mini-reviews and comparisons within your post. It's an easy 2-5k word post, and you'll rank for lots of related keywords outside of just your product name.

So while everyone else is spending time and energy trying to rank for "iPhone X Review", you are sucking up all that juicy, low competition traffic that no one else thought about.

It goes to show that spending more time brainstorming keywords is more productive than time spent writing the review.

Thanks Nathaniel , good ideas.

This is excellent, usable info. Thanks, Nathaniell.

I thought about the review approach but you just see so many of them out there. Trying to make yourself stand out from the crowd is a challenge. Your suggestions are great.

Thanks a lot, Nathaniell. It's interesting , helpful, thought-provoking. I guess, should we be lucky to write quite a good review, it could sit there for quite a time and bring us profit.:)

Great post very informative but I don't know if I can have a review article because I don't have a product that I could make a review out of. Check out my site and let me know if I can have a review article if you don't mind, please. I would greatly appreciate it I need a little help with that part.
