Although the majority of my time with managing getting new content published. About every month or so I sit down and brainstorm ways that I can enhance the conversion rate of my site in different ways.

It is really important to do this, so that way you can optimize the traffic, leads, and sales your website receives. It is entirely possible for a blog to have hundreds of blog posts, and still not have any sales, because the webmaster has not given much thought into improving the conversion rate of the site.

There are really several different ways to improve the conversion rate. For me it all STARTS with the meta data that I use for blog posts. These things include:

  • Meta Title
  • Meta Description
  • Meta Tags
  • Schema Markup

These things are what is visible to the prospective website visitor, and if you have these down, your content will stand out over your competitors, and therefore will get more visitors.

But as I the person visits a website, conversion rate optimization has a lot more factors as well. These include:

  • Page speed loading time
  • "Featured images" on your blog posts.
  • Readability of the blog post
  • Videos/Pictures that enhance the readers engagement
  • Strategic placement of call-to-action links, and buttons
  • Social Sharing plugins that enhance the virality of the content.
  • Internal links that point to relevant content within the site

All of these things are essential to improving the website visitors experience and consequently, Google also measures some of these things and will either help you gain more traffic or remove you from their search pages if depending on if these elements are there or not.

Placing The Right Offer In Front Of Your Audience

From there you either typically are trying to drive traffic to an affiliate link or you are trying to capture a new subscriber through an email form. Which one you should do, really depends on the focus keywords that you are targeting. Keywords can typically give you clues as too where the visitor is in the cycle of being aware that they need to buy something or not.

For example, if your focus keyword is "business opportunity seeker leads", you don't typically want to send that visitor directly to a sales page, because they are just not necessarily ready to buy a product. I would recommend your call to action be a "Free Report" or "Free Training" on how to generate business opportunity seeker leads, in exchange for their email, and then gradually warm them up through an email marketing series to try out the product you wish to sell them.

On the other hand. If your keyword is "MyLeadGenSecret Review". The person is already in shopping mode, and is probably very close to making a purchase. It would be appropriate to send them to either a Bonus Page, if it is possible, or just directly to a sales page.

Congruency Is Key

In order to optimize the number of people who are clicking on your calls to action, you need to make it perfectly clear to them where they will be taken too, as well as use the right words to motivate them to click. This ensures that people who visit your landing page/bonus page/ or sales page are being qualified first.

If you are not sure how to do this I highly recommend taking a course on sales copywriting, or even just reading a few books on the topic. It is one of the best skills you can learn, especially if you are blogging.

I recently published a training here on Wealthy Affiliate, located on my profile, and in a section of the training, I give a lot of tips on all the different things that optimize the conversion rate of a YouTube video, so if you get a chance to watch it, head on over there and leave a comment.

Final Thoughts on CRO

As you are just getting started on your blogging journey, you probably shouldn't worry too much about it, and should focus most of your efforts on creating content.

But once you have a decent amount of content, you should be looking into method for enhancing your sites conversion rates. Use the SiteFeedback feature that is available to you here on Wealthy Affiliate. What are some things you need to work on for your website?

Great post..

The one thing I have learnt recently is along the lines of the the offer. I hadn't been putting it at the forefront... once I did that.. things started to move a little.

Absolutely we need to keep up the great content, but from what I have learned people also need a little push in the right direction.

Had not thought of revisiting meta desc etc.. that is great advice.

Thanks again

Paul

Great information and things I need to review. Traffic is definitely lacking so I will redo the training to improve the conversion rate. Thanks!
