Earthquake: Two dead in 7.5-magnitude quake

We are so fortunate here in NZ that there were only 2 fatalities. Tsunami warnings are reducing in areas but most of NZ was awake as we had an endless night of aftershocks and civil defense warnings of evacuations around our coast lines.

Gosh, my house just shook and I did not think it would end! That is the biggest earthquake I have ever been in and do not need any more like that.

My daughter is in Christchurch and my son in Wellington, the two most effected areas and I am one grateful Mamma that her babies are both safe.

God Bless ALL those who have been affected by this, my prayers are with you at this time.

Cheers

Jo

I am so happy you are all safe....i am a mom and I would be so worried. I can't imagine how you felt!

Thank you, It was a helpless feeling even though they are in their 20's, my daughter was the worse and just wanted to be at home. The quakes are subsiding but there are still many...

Thanks so much for taking stopping, during this awful time to report back to us. I am thrilled that your family is okay. Thank God that the quack did not take more lives.

Thank you for your thoughts. We are very fortunate that the casualties weren't any worse than they were, and my prayers are with their families.

Hi Jo,
So glad to hear you and your whanau are all safe, aroha to the whanau who have lost loved ones due to the repeated natural disasters of home 'Aotearoa'. Fortunately I live abroad however all my whanau remain there in Aotearoa and all are reported safe - thus far! Stay Safe my friend.

Thank you for your thoughts and grateful that everyone is safe. A little on edge tonight as the aftershocks have not stopped, while anticipating another rough night of them. The damage is horrendous, but grateful everyone is safe.

Glad to hear you are ok it's very unfortunate about the two that didn't make it

You're very powerless and little when this happens to you, glad you and your family are safe

Thank you Loes, it is a very helpless feeling when Mother Nature has her own agenda.

Oh my goodness, hold on! I heard nothing about this! Oh dear, that's what comes of being on a remote island for two days with no communication to the outside world! I didn't feel anything in Dunedin!

Oh My Emma, you be grateful that you did. It was horrendous and I am in the North Island, apparently it was two earthquakes in two areas within close to each other and they have been felt throughout most of the country.

Pleased you are safe where you are, but check up on friends and family in the affected areas.

Stay safe.
Cheers

Oh no! I will :(

It is so sad and the aftershocks are still continuing :(

Hi Jo,

Hope you're family are safe. I'm in Whanganui and it was terrifying but as you'd know not as bad as Wellington or Kaikoura. But the aftershocks are making me nervous. Stay safe

Its horrible, I am on the Forgotten Highway to Whangamomona east of Stratford and my only worry is that the Saddles hold up and do not isolate us, but otherwise all good. Not so many aftershocks here but they did for about 2hours first thing this morning.

Thinking of you also, and stay safe.

Thanks Jo

Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected and there families.

Thanks Peter, it definitely pulls everyone together, the support is amazing!

Sad to see this, thanks, and hope all is well for you. they have my prayers.

It is indeed Mike, and thank you.

Sad for that. Blessing for all.
