Spent days on this and having problems, went over and over the training on this and simply am stuck. I have figured out how to do the menu, but the Privacy Policy does not say

No big deal. It just means you need to choose a category

"Uncategorized" is just the default category your post is in, that's all. If you'd like to change it you just add a new category and place it there. You can do this from your post editor or from your dashboard>Posts>Categories.

What you see is the default menu.

Two things you need to do here.

1) Go to all your post > dashboard > post > all posts > and see none of them is under 'uncategorised' category. You have to assign the post to a category. Create one if you haven't create.

2) Once that completed, create a menu (you can create more than one menus) and assign those pages / posts to a menu and allocate the location of the menu - normally either on main navigation or top nav.

This will get rid the default navigation.

Hope that helps.

Joe

I generally change the 'Uncategorized' to say, General, if I am not planning on using multiple categories. WordPress requires a category for each post. Also, your Privacy Policy should have been published as a page, not a post.

Exactly. And in one of the videos I watched he said you cannot categorize a page. That makes no sense why then does not say Privacy Policy instead of "uncategorized?"

It may be that the theme you are using is using a non-standard feature aka assigning categories to pages as well. I don't know.

This is so ridiculous I am not a tech person, am having so much difficulty figuring out the basics of building this site. I have the about page and the privacy policy, I can'

You can type your website and just go to it.

But you can also click on websites to the left on WA.
Click log in and sign in to your back office
Then you can go up to the top left and hover over the word dashboard and it will say visit site, click on that and it will take you to your website.

I hope this helps

David

Actually I just figured that out. Now I am trying to figure out how to edit -- he said to edit in word press I don't know how to get there so I have to watch the video again or .... can you help me? When I see my site, first of all it doesn't show the entire post About me, I don't like that. I hope I can change the template to one I like better, should I do that now? And the first sentence is the template instructions, I have to get rid of that.

Login to wordpress site > at the left hand menu, Click page > hover the page you want to edit > Click Edit - to edit the page. Once you have satisfied with the changes, click the update.
To view the page, click View Page which appear on top of the editor.

If your site has been indexed and ranked you can view it by typing into your browser -

site: your site name
(not the URL but your site NAME.

To get into Edit an article in Wordpress you simply click on Posts or Pages on the dashboard.

Find the post or page you want to Edit and click on Edit
(The words will appear when you hover over the Title)

Your post or page will appear in Wordpress Edit Mode.

If the post or page has already been published remember to Update.

If the post or page has not been published remember to click on DRAFT to save it.

Hope this helps you out and you get stuck, you get in touch.
Enjoy your Tuesday.
Robert
