What Happens When You Lose Something?

Hello Guys ‘n Dolls!

Happy Sunday!

So, I met a woman who happened to be waiting in a sitting area just like me. We struck up a conversation and she imparted a view that I never thought of before.

Here goes…

What happens when you lose something, especially when it something of value to you?

The way she chose to look at it was like this –

She thinks that whoever ‘finds’ the thing that she lost, needs it more than she does!

It was like a light bulb went on inside me…how magnificent a thought!

Indeed.

I am of the school of thought that everything happens for a reason and I live my life accordingly. And this meeting was by no means a ‘chance meeting’ but a ‘divine timing’ because I needed to change my way of thinking concerning things that I lose.

Have you ever thought of it like this?

Well, one thing is for sure, the next time I lose anything or even find something, then its time that it should be this way.

Namaste

That saying is so much preverlance. I live by it! I always feel that, "A finder keeper, A Loser is the Weaper!

If I lose something of value, means if a founder finds it, meaning they had to be in need for it! Especially money.

So we all learn something new everyday!

Just bless the founder! and forget about it.

Yes, all things in life are all about perspective - how you choose to look at it.
Namaste, Louisa.

Namaste, Michelle.

Totally. Life is far easier when you accept that everything happens in perfect timing, even if our minds may protest otherwise. :) -Mark

Indeed, Mark. Timing is key - every time.

I have heard this saying before and it is a great one thank you for reminding me about it

Namaste.

I have thought about that before, Michelle and it never ceases to amaze me. How I think about this is, if I lose something, it's not meant for me at that time. Someone else can make better use of it. If it happens to come back to me (I find it once again), then it's meant for me.

Meeting someone like that who gives you such great insight is, as you said, Divine timing.

All the best,
Sue

Yes, Sue. Great words and thoughts that you have shared - I like it.
Yes, it is all about how you choose to look at it.

I once went to a gas station and realized that I had lost the 10 dollars that was in my pocket. I was a bit annoyed with my self but still had enough money to pay for gas.

Jump a year later, and I had a rough month after the bills were paid. It would have been nice to just have a little cushion for a rainy day. Well, fate must have been listening because I found a $100 dollar bill in the parking lot.

What the hell? Who finds a $100 bill in a parking lot? I looked around to see who might have dropped it, but no one was around. I waited to see if someone came out frantically rushing to where I found the bill, but no one did. I looked up and said, "Okay, thanks. Sorry for being so annoyed when you figured that someone else needed the 10 dollars more than I did."

True story. Your post made me remember it.

Fantastic story Thabo!

What you lose comes back in manifold!
:-)

Thanks Pernilla,

You're right. sometimes losing something opens up the opportunity of gaining something even greater. We just don't know it at the time, only upon reflection.

Thabo

Another few words of truth and wisdom. We are all vessels of learning for each other.
M

Yes, I'm always amazed at what seems like "luck" upon later reflection seem a lot more. I really enjoyed your post.

Thabo

Maybe what she lost, you found?

Tried and true

Elaine

You never know, E. You never know.
M

Maybe what she lost is not what she needed.

That's also another way to look at it! Glass half or glass half empty?!
M

Mother always said that if you lose something that someone else needed it more than you did. Wow that brings back memories. Thanks for the post. Michael

You're welcome, Michael. It was my first time hearing this viewpoint.
