Hello Guys 'n Dolls!

How are you doing today?

I hope just great and productive and the way you choose to be.

So, I thought I would stop in for a few minutes to write a short note...and it will be short!

I am so proud of myself to day...oh, did I mention that in this 'short note', I will be talking about me?

Well, here goes!

I got 5 hours of sleep and have been up since 07:00 am. Took my daughter to school, returned home and then took the family pet on a little exercise walk...and myself too!

Came home and made a TIME management schedule for the next few hours.

Guess what... I have followed EVERYTHING to the letter!

Did work on my website, answered emails (well, I am about to do that), paid bills, cooked dinner, had a sandwich for energy, and in one hour I will get my little one from school, then take her to music lesson - there, I will go to the library and work another hour on my website.

Take her home after music and then be just on time for our weekly mastermind meeting which I will be actively listening while I munch on dinner!!

Then, little one in bed, hubby in bed...and me, burn the midnite oil for another 2 hours before I go to bed.

I must confess though, I did not have this post on the schedule. I just took 5 minutes to tell everyone that if you set a schedule, stick to it, you will feel like 'super person' at the end of the day!!

How are you doing on your time management?

Lemme hear it!!

OK, back to work for me.

Namaste

Hi Michelle,
I agree with you that a list works well, but I don't do one. I'm a bit temperamental I suppose. I do the most important things first then go and check my mail. But, sometimes I just get straight into my mail and don't even get showered or changed, but get around to it when I feel I need to move.
I used to do things by the book when I was working, now I think I'm in retirement mode, must get out of it I think.
I reckon I like change, don't like to get in a rut. If I find this is not working, well back to the drawing board I suppose, lists....
I do a Day Book, where I jot down things I have to do & have done, nothing like your detailed & determined way though.
You are doing so well love, good on you.
Cheers Jae

Hey there, Jae.
Well, yes, we have to have a plan and then the action step is working the plan. It takes commitment to the cause and stick-to-it-tiveness...LOL
A daybook is good... I just love the thrill of crossing out things once done!
Good luck, J. I know you can do it!
M

The funny thing is, Michelle, that the more you do this, it becomes less and less burdensome...It becomes a habit!

From what I have experienced, most people are creatures of habit, they love the stability and calmness that can bring...

It sounds like you are well on your way to practicing good time management skills - this can make a HUGE difference in productivity...

It also reduces stress, carves out more time for other things, and leaves you precious time for the loved ones too!

Cool stuff and congratulations, you are on your way to success!

Cheers!
Dave : )

Yes indeed, D.
Once you take the time to create a routine that works with your lifestyle and not create any stress, it will work. You really have to be honest about what you want to achieve and when.
Thanks so much for the confirmation of time well-spent..and be strong too.

LOL...anyone who uses a image of Wonder Woman - even a doll - gets my attention!

In terms of time management, I've decided to dig deep into my wallet and make a great investment, something that many would consider a huge sacrifice, but something that it seems I just can't live without....a timer.

Hey Mizz Vee,
Glad you liked my outfit, oops I mean my post!!
LOL.
Yes, we have to invest in ourselves and out time - it is our gift to our success.
Much success to you.
M

Yep getting things done feels great even if its a .01% improvement forward. I've started managing my time in a little calendar book I bought for myself. I've got a big old list of goals broken down into projects which I break down to tasks. In the morning I prioritize 6 of these tasks from hardest to easiest and focus on only one at a time. If a task takes longer than 45 minutes it needs more breaking down. What I need is more distraction management. I've started checking my emails only after I get some tasks done for the day.
Onwards and upwards!
Steven

Yes, you HAVE to have a PLAN and most important...work it and stick to it...and try not to give in to the distractions.
Much success.
M

Well done, Michelle. I am terrible at scheduling lately and as a result, I have a very haphazard way of working - yet somehow I get everything done. Kinda. The important stuff anyway. I've hired my Mom as my VA now to keep on top of emails and social media so I don't miss anything important.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Thnx, L. Does your mom want another 'high-paying free' job? LOL
How nice to have a mom like yours who is computer savvy...awesome.

Yes, it takes focus and planning, but so nice when it comes together.
Hugs

Hi Michelle, such a busy day!

I like to plan my days and make sure all gets done, but once in a while something comes up and I have to throw it into the mix. It all works out at the end of the day.

I have fallen behind at times, but we shouldn't be hard on ourselves :D

So true, P. Yes, we tend to spend 'some' time 'beating ourselves up' when it does not always come together as planned. I have learned to be gentle with me.
M

You & me Patsy, wrench in the works I say!
Jae

Ah yes Michelle , you sound busy and productive. I make a list every night of what I want to get done the next day. Some days it works out okay, other days life happens and sets me back. Right now my schedule is a good possibility of a definite maybe. My wife is scheduled for a hip replacement and there's a ton of stuff that has to get done before that happens. I've been doing my social thing at work during breaks and while riding around from one place to another. At nights, I get to work on my site after 8:00 until I turn in around 11:00. Tonight I'm going to try to finish my Tuesday list. This will all be over soon, I hope. I'm starting to fall behind. But I'll get there.

Don

Ohwow, yes indeed, you seem to have your work cut out for you...and your wife. Much success as you make it all cometogether...you have to be determined and focused, for sure.

ps
All the best to your wife on the surgery. My mother had it done 5yrs ago and first, she was afraid, now she couldn't be happier.

Thank you so much for the sentiment. She's at the afraid stage right now, but she's also looking forward to being pain free.

Like my dad used to say, "It's no hill for a stepper!" I'll get there but family comes first. Keep on keepin on!!!

Don

Yes, I totally understand. Took my mom a few months before she gave in...then after the surgery, she beat herself up for not having done it sooner. All the best.
M

I think making a list and sticking to it is not only a great way to get things done, but it's a nice way to avoid distractions. And life is full of so many distractions. Lucky for us, your posts are never a distraction. A welcome, friendly, inspiring, nudge to keep on the right track.

Thabo

Thnx, T. Yes, so happy when it all comes together. There is power in the 'list' indeed!
Hope you are well.
M

I am afraid I started to do lists and then stopped because I was so busy doing. I know this is wrong but each day I know what needs doing and I usually achieve it. However I know it is important to take time to plan your time. I used to teach time management as one of the courses I delivered in the corporate world for over a decade.
I should know better and do as you do.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

Thanks for your kind words, K. Yes, there are times when we know what we ought to do and then there are times when we 'lolly-gag'. We just need to be patient with ourselves and be ready to focus when it's time.

I do a power list. Every night before bed I make a list of 5 things that move me toward my goals...I have until I go to bed to complete the list. At end of day I mark it as either a W (all tasks complete) or an L (not completed) The goal is to win the day...everyday. Over the last 10 days im 5 and 5...I need to get my stats up lol. Im gonna try to work your idea into my plan.

Great idea, F. I do make my lists overnight too, not always. However, why not choose to write W - win (as you have it) and not L (lose) but rather D - deferred (it's all about setting the mind to think positive thoughts even though not everything was accomplished.
All the best.
M
