Class Is In Session!
Hello Guys 'n Dolls!
Another great week of learning.
It is so wonderful to live the well-known cliche - 'You learn something new every day!'
Whether you choose to believe it or not, I think it is a very possible option.
This week is not yet finished and I can honestly say that I have learned a few tips and tricks that I would like to share with the community.
Now, I realize that for some of us, it might not be new, however, I am comforted to know that there are others who will benefit, including myself...never too old to learn!
NOTE: this is in no way a confession of my age 'old to learn'...just the facts....the ability to learn...LOL!!
So, class is in session!
Tips And Tricks
KEYWORDS
We need to be mindful of the keywords we use when creating our content. The simplest way to do so is to follow these tips:
- what word would a reader use to search for the content that you have created?
- does it sound natural?
- does it add value?
- what is it about?
- how does it fit in with the created content?
- am I using it too much (stuffing, Uncle G does not like this)
IMAGES
Are we paying attention to the power that an image can represent for our article? Let's start paying attention to:
- the alt text - use our keyword(s) there for extra 'oomph'
- you can use the caption if you want the image to stand out using your keyword(s)
HEADINGS
Headings are important. It is a good guide to:
- use the H1 heading tag ONCE
- use the H2 heading once or twice
- use the H3 subheading as many times as you choose
The whole idea about headings and subheadings is really to 'jazz' up your article and make it more interesting for the eyes and of course, it pleases Uncle G!
EXERCISE CORNER
As a little exercise, why don't you go to one of your older articles on your website, revamp it, using the tips above, BUT FIRST, make a note of its page ranking in Google, and then wait 48 hours, re-check and see if it made a difference!
I would love to hear the outcome.
So, this is a synopsis of this weeks learning session. I hope you will find some useful information to help on the journey to online success!
Namaste
Michelle

For images how would we SEO optimize the caption ? Just the header or the relevant phrase that accompanied the image?
Hello there, Shweta.
If you use Site Content (great tool on the platform), it gives you the ability to edit your images once you add them.
Once you upload them to your WP site, you can also further edit them there...you will see the edit options once you click on the image to edit.
Give it a shot on your website and see if you are able to make it all come together. Of course, you do not have to use a caption if you choose not to, just keep in mind, if you do, you will have one more way to use your keyword on the image.
Good luck.
