10 Native American Core Beliefs

Hello Guys 'n Dolls,

Just a quick hello to wish you a wonderful day!

I was reading a very interesting article about Native American Indians and their ancestral teachings. Here is a list that they considered to be a part of their core beliefs to be used as a roadmap for living a balanced and connected life between the physical and the spiritual world.

I think they are relevant in all walks of life and cultures.

10 Ancestral Teachings

1) Care for Mother Earth.

2) Honor your ancestors in all you do.

3) Open your heart and soul to the Great Spirit.

4) All life is sacred; treat all beings with respect.

5) Take only what you need from Mother Earth and just enough.

6) Put the good of all before your own interests.

7) Give gratitude for each new day.

8) Speak the truth; but only of good in others.

9) Follow the rhythms of nature; rise and retire with the sun.

10) Enjoy life's journey, but leave no tracks.

They seem so simple right? But somehow these core concepts are easy to forget or take for granted when life gets challenging.

I would love your feedback.

They were, in my opinion living life the way it was supposed to be lived. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, and I am sure there are still some 'oldies' who continue in like fashion!

Yes. I always tell my daughter: Life is simple, it's just us humans who complicate things! She is now 10yrs old and I hope she will ge it by the time she gets to be a little older.

Yes all that is some of the teachings. Not a bad list of 10

One of the things I was taught was that the spiritual life and physical life cannot be separated. They influence each other to much so that balance comes from walking in both equally

Absolutely, Bo. The spirit and body and mind are all connected...and in the same vein, we are all connected as well.

I concur with it all Michelle, except for the ambiguity of #10. Tracks can be positive. I think the way it's written infers negativity. My nickels worth. To your success.

Yes, I understand. As I told Accad in that respect, it's all, as is EVERYTHING under the sun, it is about...interpretation.
In my opinion: Enjoy life's journey, but leave no tracks - to me, I interpret it to live your life the way you choose/like, and don't hold on to anything - it's all immaterial and temporary.
