I want to add Social Media buttons to my website. So far most of the plug ins I have tried to do this have been disappointing and full of glitches and compatibility issues with

Glad you got it working Jen!

Jen: I changed to Shareaholic and comment luv. If you look at my primary site. http://notasingledimeonline.com you can see how they look. I use Instatheme a paid theme for my site. Hope this helps. As far as your question goes you may want to reload the page and see if that helps or look at it on another computer. Some times you cannot see the changes from your own computer I have found.

I activated the Sociable plug in but there are no changes on my page. Is there another step I need to take?

It is working now. Sorry.

Thanks Shawn. Sociable set up for me fine which was an improvement over some of the other plug ins I tried. But no Google plus. I will take a look at your recommendation.

I use social sharing toolkit. You can set it up for share, follow and like and it covers all the popular sites.

I see you have received your answer ---great !!!

Mark, I used Sociable for a long time, but it didn't have all the buttons I wanted. Now I use Twitter Facebook Social Share. This one has Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter, and a Pin It button for Pinterest. You can add Stumbleupon and Linked In as well, but I don't use those. So far this has worked best for me.

Pat

Hey Pat. Sociable has had extensive updates and does now include FB, G+, Twitter and Pinterest. :) Rich.

Thanks, Rich. I didn't get the word about the updates, and the version I have didn't have Google Plus. It also often overlapped the text in my artlcle. The placement on the page didn't work with my theme. But I'm glad to know they've added the other social media networks. I spend hours and hours trying different social media button plugins before I found one I liked.

Pat

No probs. If you've found one you like, definitely stick with it. The training here also needs updating, as it recommends a separate plugin for Pinterest, even though Sociable now includes it. :) Rich.

I wonder why I didn't get the notification that there was an update available for Sociable. I used it for a long time even though I wasn't pleased with the buttons offered or the placement on the page. My other plugins notify me when there's an upgrade.

Pat

If you've "deactivated" it then you won't receive notifications of any updates. :) R. x

Thanks Rich, I will check this out and also will go through Kyle's class. I've got to like you say follow the training step by step and also to check to see if someone has asked the same question and review those responses first.. My impatience at time is my worst enemy but I am getting better. Thank You for your prompt response!

The recommend plugin in the training is Sociable http://wordpress.org/plugins/sociable/ :) Rich.

Sent in help ticket but wondered if anyoe could help me shed some light on this issue?

fletch 2 running Firefox, Jay Gumbs suggestion did the trick. Jay , can't thank you enough I was worried that months of work were totally screwed up and had no idea where to begin to look! You have won the Awesome award of the day!!

Firstly, what are you running? Windows, Mac or Linux? If Windows, Which version. If Linux, what flavor. If Mac, I for one can't help you.

If you're running windows, which I despise but can work on, it sounds like your pc needs a thorough cleaning, possibly a defragging and some updating. Concerning the strange format you spoke of. Are you using Internet Explorer? If so, stop doing that! IE is notorious for not meeting industry standards. Webmasters don't even bother writing for IE. They write for FireFox, Chrome and Mac users. Try using Firefox or Chrome instead. I prefer Firefox myself. Lotsa nifty little plugins and it's old school enough I can navigate just fine. And it's well within industry standards. Chrome is good also and stays within industry standards. I personally don't like it because it won't let me make changes to anything and everything like Firefox will. I would also check and make sure the browser is up to date, clean the cache and history in it.

If you're running Linux, I would say your browser is out of date. I run Mint which has auto updates and keeps my browser and everything else as current as is humanly possible.

Maybe clear your browser cache and see if it's still happening.

Friends do not take worry, because many will help you here in WA, I was a beginning here in WA.

Jroth 728, Thank you that did help. Also I did confirm that the amazon link is IP dependent so it will sow up on their Amazon page.

ok, I purchased a domain name at Go Daddy on Sunday. I followed the tutorials and set up WA as my hosting provider. I was unable to access my admin page through WA. today and

I may try that as I don't have a lot done of course. It's worth a try. Let you know ifit then works

That happen to me before. I erased the deleted the website from WA and started over

Thanks Shawn. Well the hosting is being done by WA. I emailed Carson and sent him a copy of my help ticket.

I did it on Sunday so it should have switched by now. I wish the reply on the ticket would have been a little more in depth. Maybe an old pro could figure it out but for a newbie like me it is perplexing.. Go Daddy is telling me that the zone file for my hosting account needs to be checked for the correct IP, which sounds like it might be the above IP address but I don't know how to access it here.

How long ago did you change the nameserver

that has been done. When I go to the WP admin account for my site I am being directed to the go daddy site.

Call your service provider and have them go to the WP admin and see where they end up. If it works there you need to reset your system at home. If they also go to Go Daddy then they need to reset their system. Good luck! I went through this a while back, and it was my local provider that was screwed up.

This is provided you have the name servers all set up right.

What you need to do is take your two wealthy affiliate name servers

ns1.mywahosting.com
ns2.mywahosting.com

Now go to your godaddy account go to the domain section . Now click on domains, when your domains pop up. Press launch on the domain name that you want to use for your wealthy affiliate website. you should see a section called domain settings.

Now look for the section that says name server. You will see a blue link that says manage , click the manage link.

A box will popup saying name server settings. You will have two options to choose.

Standard
Custom

Choose custom. Now look for a link that will say "enter custom nameserver " click on that. There will be a section that say add nameserver . Add both of the wealthy affiliate nameserver to the empty spots and click ok.
