I know Creative Commons is one option, but is it generally ok to use images from another site/blog, provided I cite it's source and link to the original site? Or must I always seek

The niche clearly has good monthly searches and low competition, but I have found only one (not very good) affiliate program.

a) Build a good site with usefu
It is important that you understand and know a good deal about your niche. If you don't then think of something that you like and build your niche around that. Yes you have to build a site. It looks to me that you need to think this through and find a niche that you really like.
Thanks Ollie. You've no idea how much Ive tried to find a niche relating to my interests. Believe me - its a saturated market.
So I'm going with the approach that I will find a niche that I can learn about. It's not a passion, but I believe I can make a good go of it, especially with this particular niche. Great searches and very low comp. Best I've found so far. I mean - people selling rugs can't really be passionate about rugs, can they?! it's a purely business decision :)

I agree with ollie1950, but you can do a search on the internet to see if they already have an affiliate program set up. Search Example: Amazon Affiliate Program. It will take you directly to the website to Amazon's affiliate program.

In WA keyword tool I search for a phrase and it gets 4400 monthly searches. Then I go to Jaxxy and search the same phra
How accurate is the Google Keyword Planner?
I typed a keyword phrase into Jaxxy and it came back with 283 searches per month. I typed the exact same keyword phrase into the Google tool and it returned zero results for that search term.
What does that tell me?

Hey Kyle - thanks for responding to this. So it's incredibly inconvenient to this discussion that I now can't remember what the keyword was! I was searching loads of things in a brainstorming session and never wrote it down. If I remember it or find a similar issue again I'll be sure to contact you.
I asked this question before and I think It was Kyle who told me that the keyword tool here is updated like once a week, whereas Jaaxy is in constant update mode. They are both good tools, but Jaaxy is way better!!
OK thanks for that. pretty crazy thought that the WA keyword tool result can be so dramatically different! It makes it seem almost pointless to rely on. But then I guess they really want us to buy Jaxxy don't they!
Yeah the big differents really makes you doubt. I agree. And aboud jaaxy - yeah that's a point :)
The WA keyword tool does it's searches in quotes too though! Often people say, just trust Jaxxy - but I guess I'm the kinda guy who wants to know the reasons for the difference before I can trust it!
They are both owned by the same guys, though. I'm with Murph, what's the difference and why quotes?
Joshua, the quotes are a way of telling the search engine to search for that exact phrase, rather than just searching for any pages that contain any of the words within the phrase. There are some good tutorials on this around the WA site.
This still doesnt explain why WA keyword tool and Jaxxy are so different though!

I keep reading about local searches and global searches but no-one seems to explain them.
Do they refer literally to searches physically located in your area?
My interpretation of this is that a 'local search' includes some geographic term such as 'Tyre fitter in birmingham'
If your product or service is restricted to servicing a defined geographic area then optimising for local searches is often a good way to get ranked quickly. It also means you get much more targeted traffic as there is little point someone from Australia clicking on your listing if you only serve the Amsterdam area.
Hope I'm correct. No doubt the amazing WA community will chip in and clarify further
Close, but as far as I know locality is not in search terms. In Google based on your locality you are redirected in many cases to your local Google frontend. For example Google.fi for Finland, Google.se for Sweden, http://Google.es for Spain, etc. And when you search with your localized Google you get local search results. You still search for same terms, but get different results based on locality.
Global on the other hand is searches worldwide of course.
