I am curious if a person can use their credentials from WA on their websites and log into wordpress.com to update and maintain their WA Wordpress website? -Thanks!

No, WA’s hosting platform is completely separate from wordpress.com. You would need to create a separate wordpress.com site if you wanted to have a website there.

Hi Leslie
Just be careful with wordpress dot com as this quote shows:

"Affiliate links are allowed on WordPress.com as long as the primary purpose of your blog is to create original content. We do not allow sites that exist primarily to drive traffic to affiliate links."

If you have website hosted here then yes, you can.

Can you use the wordpress.com platform instead of siterubix?

Has anyone had success setting up a WA email address (using your own purchased domain) with the email client that comes packaged with Windows 10?

I know there is trainin

You'll need to add the account using Advanced settings and select the option that the outgoing mail requires authentication.

You'll get all the setting info you need from the SMTP Settings popup at Websites > Site Manager > Site Email.

I just set one up and it works. If enough people are interested, I'll make a video.

If you have a Gmail address, you can use Gmail to get your email from your domain name.

I just wondered if there was any reason to delay transferring my siterubix site to my actual .com domain name until my site was "more complete"? I think of it as "moving test t

I would move it as soon as I can so I can focus on the final site. This shouldn't affect ranking, and if it does, the more reason to move over now!
Cheers!

Thank you very much, Gerald. I also noticed I had to update all my PrettyLinks, so you're right! The sooner the better! Got it done, whew!

When you move a siterubix subdomain to a personally-owned site, some redirection code is put into place in the siterubix site that causes all accesses of it to go to the new site. (Any ranking that you've achieved with the old site will transfer to the new site.)

For testing purposes, you can set up a new siterubix subdomain and try your changes on that site before applying the changes to your "real" site.

Hi Bob, thank you for the detail. Now that I think of it, it probably would not be a good idea to leave my existing siterubix.com site "as a test site" because Google would see it as a duplicate of my data and it would hurt my rankings? I'm just curious what people do about this. I'm used to having a copy in case I mess things up. How do I keep a copy without it being "live"? And for testing purposes, because I have done some testing and have messed things up before... -Thanks!

There are a number of ways to back up your wordpress site and save a copy of it. Typing just the letters "back" (without the quotes) into the WA search bar brings up seven WA trainings and quite a few blog posts.

You cannot keep the old siterubix site as a test site -- Once you've moved a siterubix site to a personally-owned domain, you can no longer access the siterubix site as a separate domain. Since all accesses to it (even yours) get redirected to your new site, anything that you try to do to the siterubix site will be applied to the live site.

Awesome! Thank you so much for your help! I'm following you now. :)
-Leslie

I'd move it. I kinda see my website as an evolution project anyway. There's always ways to improve it.

Thanks Geoff!

I've seen others have Amazon products on their websites that look like their products until they click to buy it and see that it's Amazon. How do I do this? I can get the text

When I do it I link to a page with the product. If you go to the link & Banners in blue at the top of your associates page. I click on the link to any page then link to search results. I will give you html text to copy and paste in your site. I found when I links to a product I had many links not work the next day.

Thanks pmonreal! I downloaded the Amazon Product in a Post plugin and seems to be giving me just what I want. I just need to position things around the way I want now. Thanks so much for your help and quick response!!
-Leslie

You can put Amazon products just about anywhere, I would just double check the fine print in your associates page.

There is an amazon widget you can get straight from Amazon and something like :Amazon Product In a Post Plugin" thru WP plugin in page. It does have a lot of options.

Thanks so much!! I'll check it out Missa3 :)

I want to have products on my website to sell and need a shopping cart plug-in that accepts credit cards etc. Do any of you use the Paypal one, full blown that accepts credit a

Thank you so much Luna! I lucked out with a WooCommerce theme. :) I'm already using Square (squareup.com) for physical purchases so thought about using it for the site too. Would like to stay with one product if possible, but also thought about Paypal, since have that account too. Would love to hear if anyone has used either product on their site and their experience. Thanks again! Leslie

As shopping cart at the moment I am using WooCcommerce plugin, just found it easy to work with and looks nice too. Thou you have too do some chances, depending on the the fact if the theme you use to your website support it or not, or as well just get a different theme.
As Payment gateway for start I will be going with CCBill, because of few different factors. Let e know if find something better.
