I can't afford purchasing the premium membership and I was wondering whether this is a problem or not
As a free member you will only learn a few basic skills, not enough to become fully skilled,Take a leap of faith and get premium.
You need a year or two to develop your online presence. No way to do anything as a free member.
I borrowed money to get into premium version.
Why don't you pay the next month, should be still an introductory price ($19 I think) and fully evaluate. Make your decision, and perhaps pay one more month to give yourself time to save up the money (or get it somehow). This course is worth it!
You can continue as you mentioned and make a go of it but it will be a lot more difficult. Good luck

If you do the free course that is available to you as a free member it will give you the basics of what affiliate marketing is. From there, if you add content to your websites regularly and add affiliate links to monetize your website, and keep on doing that you stand a chance.
Since you won't have a structured course after the first level, you will need to learn to use Google and Youtube to learn how to do things.
Yeah, amazon is a good place to start. Use whatever affiliate links you can find for products and services that you think your website visitors will purchase or of whatever product/service you happen to be reviewing.
